Christmas is coming, and that means Pokémon GO is about to drop some kind of celebratory event. Players of the mobile behemoth are used to an Ice-type spawn event to mark the December holidays, as well as special bonuses like increased candy. Niantic announced this week that its plans for the 2019 event do indeed include Ice-type Pokémon and bonuses galore. But they go even further than that. Pokémon GO Holidays 2019 will debut two new shiny Pokémon, one of which is the Game Grump favorite Stantler.

The info on December's many Pokémon GO festivities comes straight from Niantic's blog. There the developer lays out the schedule for six different events. Pretty much every activity in the game will get some sort of special attention this month. New Pokémon will hatch from eggs, Team Rocket quests will reward new shadow Pokémon, and there will be special raids galore. Capping it all off will the be holiday event, which runs from December 24 to January 1.

The best part of the Holiday event are the new Pokémon spawns. Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu will be out in force wearing knit beanies. Joining them will be Stantler, dressed up in festive bells. While the holiday forms are special in and of themselves, Stantler will also be available in its green shiny form for the first time. Anyone who manages to catch a shiny holiday Stantler will have an extremely rare Pokémon in their collection.

Outside of the holiday-themed Pokémon, the event will also bring Pokémon never before seen in Pokémon GO. Cubchoo, the polar bear with the forever running nose, will begin spawning in the wild on Christmas Eve. It'll be joined by Cryogonal, the giant snowflake. Cryogonal will be trickier though, as it will only spawn in Glacial Lures. Finally, weird snowy plant Pokémon Snover will be available in its snowy form for the first time.

There's a lot more, too much to share in this post, so interested trainers should check out the full Niantic announcement for details. Other highlights include the Legendary Virizion coming to raids, holiday sweaters for avatars, and Delibird becoming a Shadow Pokémon.

Of course, Stantler will be the biggest highlight for Game Grumps fans. It's known as the favorite Pokémon of Dan Avidan, a fact that was constantly brought up during their Pokémon Fire Red playthrough. Sadly, Stantler wasn't available in that game so Dan never got to use one in battle. Now, however, he can finally live the dream of fielding Stantler, holiday Stantler, and shiny Stantler on one team. Assuming a famous Youtuber actually has time to play Pokémon GO, that is.
