The Nintendo 3DS isn't quite dead yet, as the system was due to receive a new game in the form of Silver Falls - 3 Down Stars on December 26. However, the horror title has been delayed to technical issues involving the Nintendo eShop.

Silver Falls - 3 Down Stars is a survival horror game for the New Nintendo 2DS and 3DS inspired by the horror games of the '90s. The game is set in the town of Silver Falls, where the residents have been frozen in time following a visit by UFOs. Only three residents of the town are unaffected by the time freeze, but they have to contend with the local wildlife that has been driven mad by radiation. If a player character is killed, they will return to the start of the game, but they will remember the events that they witnessed in their previous playthrough.

Silver Falls - 3 Down Stars was expected to launch on December 26 in North America, but an unknown issue is preventing its Nintendo eShop page from launching, which is the only way to purchase the game as of now as it's digital-only. The developers have issued an apology for the issue on their YouTube page, as the people that would normally be responsible for fixing the issue are away for the holidays.

The developers are offering the fans who can't purchase the game the chance to join an Ambassador's Program, which will give them access to two costumes, a special weapon, and a download code for an upcoming game in the series. The link to join the Amabassador's Program can be found here.

It seems that the rumors of the Nintendo 3DS' death were unfounded, as it will still be receiving intriguing games into the next decade. Nintendo might have stopped producing first-party titles for the system, but there are still other studios that are interested in making games for the people who haven't made the jump to the Nintendo Switch.
