As promised, The Sims 4 team has just released a trailer for an upcoming expansion pack, Discover University. While many fans were unsurprised by the pack's theme due to previous leaks, the trailer still excited any fans who tuned in.

Within 10 minutes, the trailer had attracted over 14k likes, 2,000 comments, and a huge amount of speculative live chat. Simmers can't wait to get their hands on a university expansion after a five-year wait for the popular theme.

There is also more information about the pack available on the EA website, where an overview has been released.

Sims will have a choice of two universities to attend; either the historical University of Britechester, with its void critter-style dragon mascot, or the more modern Foxbury Institute, with its crazy lobster mascot.

Each University will offer dorms, student commons, and a library. Students can also choose to live off-campus.

We can see from the trailer that the two institutes appear to interact with some friendly debating, rivalry, and pranks.

Sims can study several different subjects, including biology, computer science, art history, and even villainy. Attending lectures and working on term papers or presentations will boost grades, while skipping class and missing deadlines will decrease them.

We don't yet know whether different universities will offer different classes, but it seems likely, as the modern Foxbury Institute appears to be home to a high tech robotics lab and the two campuses have very different focuses and histories.

There are also other new activities for sims to participate in. These include juice pong, soccer ball juggling, debating, robotics, and bike riding. Just make sure your sims can handle the pressure, as it appears that some get a little queasy at the thought of public speaking.

As expected, the pack will also contain a range of clothing, such as sweat pants and college t-shirts, as well as some new decor including a mini-fridge and new posters.

It's difficult to tell exactly how the new expansion will play, but Sims fans are hoping that it will offer extra gameplay options, something that many have felt recent packs lacked.

The Sims 4: Discover University is due to be released on Origin on November 15 and on  Xbox and PlayStation 4 on December 17.
