Earlier today The Sims 4 team dropped a roadmap for Fall's upcoming content. As Simmers realized that the releases it teased aren't a new game pack, or even a stuff pack, but rather four kits, disappointment spread. The controversial "bite-sized" DLC has divided the community, with many feeling as if this form of content is bad value in comparison to other pack types. However, the roadmap is starting to look less bleak now two kit themes have been released, along side the launch of a free update containing 1,200 swatches spanning 146 different base game items.

Anyone opening Origin will see that this huge free update is now available to download and its well worth the wait. The fact that base game swatches are so limited compared to later items has long been an annoyance to Simmers. While an earlier update added more neutral swatches to some basic items including doors and windows this one gives far more choice across a massive range of items.

Sims 4 new swatches

The art team has produced this update which spans all categories of items for almost every room in the house. While many new swatches are extra wood types for items such as chairs, tables, mirrors and bookcases, there are also bold new swatches for a variety of curtains and blinds. Beds, bins, towel rails, decor items, plant pots, bushes and bonsais are also included, as are some neutral wood floors and brick walls. You'll also find several updated kitchen appliances as well as several extra swatches for both the Vault and BlandCo kitchens. Every window in base game has also been updated so the colors will better match later additions.

You can see the full list of swatch updates, along with some more images, in the patch notes on The Sims forums.

Alongside this update the first of the Season of Selves kits have been revealed, Fashion Street Kit and Incheon Arrivals Kit.

The Sims team worked with Shuruti Sitara, artist and fashion designer, to produce the Fashion Street Kit which brings Mumbai street fashion to The Sims 4. The focus is said to be on flowing fabrics, high contrast colors, bold patterns and accessories galore.

The second kit is also a collaboration, this time with TV host and content creator Jazzy Cho, who brings Seoul's style into the game through the lens of Incheon Airport, a global travel hub for South Korea.

Both kits will be released on Ocotber 5, 2021 for PC and Mac via Origin and Steam as well as on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The free base game update is available to download now.
