Scientific polling has discovered that most people don't like getting killed by beds, so a dedicated group of Sims 4 modders have found a way to keep that from happening.  To your Sims, that is - beds still will pose a danger to you in real life.

See, the newest Sims 4 expansion pack, Tiny Living, has a number of items that specialize in taking up as little space as possible. One of these is the infamous Murphy bed - one of those beds that is stored upright against the wall.

The beds are convenient, stylish, high-tech, and will kill your sims dead in no time flat.

This isn't the first time that Murphy Beds caused death in the series -- they showed up 12 years ago in The Sims 2 Apartment Life with similarly deadly results. But despite the inherent humor in watching a space-friendly sim getting crushed by a broken bed, not everybody is a fan.

For players who actually like their sims and don't want to cause an untimely demise via blunt force trauma, this poses a bit of a problem. While there are things that players can do to make bed-based deaths less likely, such as keeping it well-maintained, it turned out there was nothing that could be done to guarantee that the bed would never smash a sim to death.

As with many things in the gaming world, modders have come to the rescue. The modder icemunmun, fresh off their stint of adding Baby Yoda and a whole bunch of custom food to the game, has tweaked the bed to prevent it from ever killing anyone, ever again.

The mod still lets the bed break in its regular spectacular fashion, knocking sims against the ground and leaving them in a daze, but this time there's no risk of a sim who wants a quick rest ending up receiving an eternal one.

The mod is available for download from icemunmun's blog here.
