The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories brings romance to the game with an overhauled wedding ceremony, new venue type, and a range of items to make your big day feel special. As part of the pack, the calendar now allows you to organize different wedding-related events. These include a number of new activities focused on different cultural celebrations and span from engagement parties to vow renewals.
In this guide, we take a look at all the new activities, which events include them, and what each one involves. This way you can completely customize your wedding or pre-wedding event to fit your Sim's individual story.
New Wedding Events In My Wedding Stories
There six new events that have been added to the calendar under the new section "Wedding Events". They follow a couple's journey from engagement to wedding ceremony and beyond. Each one has traditions that match the focus of each occasion.
Engagement Dinner
The engagement dinner allows you to celebrate your announcement of impending nuptials. It focuses on a celebratory meal with toasts, drinks and dancing. You can also drink tea together.
Bach Party
Before the wedding comes the bach party, a gender-neutral version of the bachelor/bachelorette or stag/hen party tradition. The available traditions are similar to an engagement dinner but the focus is sure to be more on the drinks and dancing than anything else.
Rehearsal Dinner
The focus here is on preparation and like the engagement dinner, it's a time for family to come together to prepare for the big day. Its traditions match that of the engagement dinner.
Family Gathering
This is a generic wedding-themed event that you can customize to meet your needs. However, it has traditions that match the rehearsal and engagement dinner, so you cannot use it to get Sims to exchange vows.
Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony event features all the social traditions of other events (minus desserts) as well as ceremony-specific options. You'll be able to walk down the aisle, exchange vows and then have a spousal kiss. Guests can also blow bubbles or throw rice. The specific traditions are rounded off with speeches, cake cutting and a first dance. Sims must be engaged to host this event.
Vow Renewal
For reasons we don't understand, the traditions for a vow renewal are the almost the same as a wedding ceremony except drinks are not included but desserts are. Sims must also be married already to participate in a vow renewal.
New Wedding Traditions And The Events That Include Them
As you can tell from the summary above, many of the traditions appear in multiple events and several events have the same or very similar traditions. Here are all 14 new traditions and the events they can be used in.

As you can see there is a lot of overlap. The dinners and gatherings in particular are very similar but have some slight changes so make sure the event you pick includes the traditions you require.
The wedding event can be edited up until just before it begins allowing you to add Sims to fulfill roles once they've accepted the honor. These roles aren't directly linked to activities, but the Sims involved can be called on to walk down the aisle and give speeches or toasts.
Wedding Activities Explained
We take a look at all the activities added by the pack, as well as some that were already included but are now linked to weddings, and how each one functions in the game. Where an activity requires a specific item this has been stated.
At the time of writing, some activities do not function as intended. The Sims team is working to patch these, so information is based on how they should function in the game.
Walk Down Aisle
The aisle is an item in build and buy mode that you'll need to place. There is a version with petals and another which is invisible in live mode. Both come in three lengths and have a heart icon at one end when you place them. Asking a Sim to walk down the aisle will send them towards the heart icon so remember this when you place them.
Sims can walk alone or accompanied by another Sim. Petal pals will spread flowers from a basket when sent down the aisle, Sims with bouquets will hold them, and accompanying Sims will link arms.
Exchange Vows
Exchanging vows has now got extra options to allow you to exchange vows in front of a celebrant and to have a spousal kiss afterward. As currently, you'll need a wedding arch to exchange vows. There are several new designs to choose from including a modern metal minimalist design and a stone archway.
Those wanting to elope can choose to exchange vows instantly or at the town hall venue in Tartosa, the new world that comes with this pack. These wedding interactions replace the existing wedding system.
Spousal Kiss
The spousal kiss is simply any kiss that takes place after your Sims are married. This can be done as part of the vow exchange or separately after the event. Once your Sims are married the option will be available under the social interaction menu of your married Sims.
Blow Bubbles Or Throw Rice
Guests can blow bubbles or throw rice at the happy couple. This interaction can be performed through the ceremony activities interaction and sees guests perform a simple animation to either blow bubbles or throw rice. You can choose both if you wish.
Have Toasts
This requires the new champagne bucket which functions as a clickable item allowing you to select the option to give a toast or ask another Sim to give a toast. Whoever gives the toast should do so using drinks from the bucket.
Speeches
This activity functions in the same way as a toast, but Sims will talk for longer. It can be performed at any time during the day by using the Wedding Activities interaction.
Celebration Feast
The celebration feast involves guests sitting down to eat together. This can include a grand meal made by your Sims or food from a buffet table. There are new buffet tables in the pack, and you can stock them with random dishes or choose which items to serve from a small selection.
Cut Cake
Wedding cakes can be baked by Sims or purchased from the bakery in town. Any cake can be used as a wedding cake if you add a wedding topper. However, there are also more sophisticated multi-tier options that are available to buy in Tartosa or bake with the gourmet cooking skill.
Cake cutting is done by the bride and groom, and you'll need to select the option from the cake itself or the wedding menu. Just do it fast as wedding cakes don't seem to last long.
Desserts
This activity simply involves eating dessert. The easiest way to do this is to click the buffet table and choose one of the options then tuck in. It's worth noting that the random selection of food may not include dessert, so you'll want to select dishes one at once.
First Dance
A first dance can be specified from the Wedding Activities Menu and will lead to your newly-wed Sims slow dancing together. You'll just need any dance floor and luckily there are some new options that don't involve cardboard.
Dancing
Again you'll need a dance floor, but this activity simply involves any of your guests dancing. There are some new group dance options as well as traditional dances.
Drinks
You'll need a bar for this one and can either make your own drinks or hire a mixologist to be on drink pouring duty. Just make sure you remember to order a tipple or two and this activity is considered complete.
Tea
While the game already includes a tea maker, this version of tea is more ceremonial. There are two ornate tea sets which comprise a teapot and cups. Your Sim will be able to brew tea and then serve it to other Sims in line with traditions.
By combining these activities and customizing your events you can create your dream wedding.
