Update 01/05/2022 11:48 GMT: A recent patch has removed Ring Ring Girl from the menu, but she can still haunt your waking nightmares in the gallery.

If you have fired up The Sims 4 since the latest update went live, then you'll have already clocked there isn't much new stuff to get all that excited about. There may have also been a moment where you might have been led to believe the patch had broken your game. That's because Ring Ring Girl, the character-turned-meme that occasionally haunts a corner of your main menu, now occupies the whole page.

No, your copy of The Sims 4 is not broken, nor are you having a horrible nightmare. Ring Ring Girl, or Callia Maebey (say it out loud), has been plastered all over the main menu on purpose. A playful, albeit mildly terrifying, joke on the part of developers Maxis, and perhaps an intentional indicator that it is paying attention to the game's vocal community.

Ring Ring Girl has been giving Sims players the heebie-jeebies for the past year, but now she will be able to do that on a whole new level. Not just because multiple pairs of her soulless eyes are now there to greet you when you start up the game, but also because she is now in the game itself. Ring Ring Girl has been added to The Sims 4's gallery, reports Kotaku, which means you can incorporate the phone-obsessed Maebey into your homes and neighborhoods.

Sims players have already been having fun with Maebey, getting their own back after being creeped out by her lurking on the main menu for months. The Sims Community Twitter account highlighted how fun it is to make Ring Ring Girl dance in her own pee until she passes out from the heat while sharks swim beneath her. She's a little out there but damn, that feels like going from zero to sixty a little too fast.

Ring Ring Girl and a few minor tweaks to the game aren't the only improvements that have been made to The Sims 4 this week. There's also the limited time Frog Fanatic scenario which, when active, makes your Sim want to collect more frogs, because who doesn't want that?
