10 Programming

This skill is the perfect way for a player's Sim to make money and all they need is a computer. The Sim has to reach level 2 of the skill before they are able to start hacking for some extra cash.

The player will continually make more through this skill as they level up because it unlocks the ability for them to create viruses, take on freelance work, and make apps and computer games.

9 Video Gaming

This isn't super lucrative, but it can provide a small income while a player's Sim does what they enjoy. Level 3 unlocks the ability for players to enter gaming tournaments, and eventually, they can even stream their gameplay.

The money a Sim receives grows the higher their skill level is as they gain knowledge and the ability to best their opponents.

8 Piano

Sims may not have the extra cash to purchase a piano at the beginning of the game, but the Nightclub does have one that a player's Sim can use. They can earn tips from Sims who are watching them play, but the most they can earn is §20 per Sim.

It does become more financially smart when they reach level 8 and begin to write their own songs, which in turn can earn them daily royalties.

7 Painting

Painting is great for creative Sims as it serves as an outlet for their passion. They will create paintings and each one they make can be sold for cash.

It is obvious that the higher the skill, the better the painter they become, and the more they make from the fruits of their labor. The bigger the painting is will earn the Sim more cash, and other rewards can be earned along the way.

6 Guitar

This skill can be developed either by reading a book or purchasing a guitar to practice with. When they reach level 5 they can begin to play for tips, and level 8 once again allows the Sim to write songs for cash.

The unique aspect of this instrument is it can be placed in a Sim's inventory and played anywhere for cash, as long as other Sims are around to listen.

5 Comedy

If a Sim enjoys telling jokes, then they should pursue this skill to earn themselves some extra cash. It can be achieved through practice, composing jokes on a computer, and reading books on the topic.

They can start using their material in front of a crowd at level 3 and they can earn anywhere from §112 to §330 for an excellent performance.

4 Fishing

Fishing can seem slow and boring, but it is quite fruitful when a player reaches a high enough level. They can start learning this skill by visiting the park and fishing in the pond or nearby river.

The catches will be small at first, but slowly they will grow in sale price as their level increases. A Sim can also use this skill to catch valuable objects like plumbing parts or strange geodes.

3 Writing

This skill is similar to that of the painting skill as any works produced will generate revenue for a Sim's household. They start out writing children's books, but they can gradually increase their skills to create new types of books to earn themselves bigger daily royalties.

This can even turn into a career for them on their own once they write enough books to publish or self-publish for a profit.

2 Gardening

Gardening might not seem like the first choice for most, but it can lead to a more sustainable lifestyle. It is great for Sims who are cooks as the various things they grow can be used to cut down the cost of dishes.

The Sim will also be able to evolve the plant as they level up, which will lead to the creation of better produce.

1 Handiness

One of the most underrated skills of the game is the handiness trait. Sims will not only be able to repair their own broken products, but they can also upgrade the items within their home.

It is great for early on in the game when the best items can't be afforded as toilets and sinks can be made self-cleaning or more resilient to damage. The Sim will earn rewards the more items they repair, and they can even earn some cash on the side by interacting with various Sims.
