The Sims 4's latest expansion, Discover University, is launching on November 15 and that means a pre-launch update for players. November's Maxis Monthly Livestream gave us all the details, as well as throwing us a curveball by announcing a new community voted stuff pack.

The first community voted stuff pack was announced through a blog by SimGuruGraham back in April 2017. Initially, the themes were 'Eco Living Stuff', 'Starter Home Stuff', 'Arcade Stuff', 'Dangerous Stuff', and 'Wedding Stuff'. As these were narrowed down simmers could also vote on clothing, item and gameplay choices. The result was one of the most loved stuff packs, Laundry Day Stuff, which was released in January 2018.

Now the concept has been adapted and reintroduced. This time the voting will take place right from the main menu of the game, via a survey. These surveys will also be accessible via social media and the forums, so there are plenty of ways for simmers to make their voices heard. The first one will go live next Monday and is said to be up for around a week.

The votes will be on the subjects of main theme and gameplay, art style, clothing selections, object selections and finally the title. The team also revealed the themes, which are arts & crafts, self-care routines, fun-tech, science & technology, and happy haunts.

Amongst the stuff pack excitement was also news about the latest free update. This pre-expansion patch is set to bring some new clothing, accessibility features and more to the game, as well as the usual selection of bug fixes.

In terms of create a sim, the team showed us some new kids' clothing. Since the new expansion doesn't include any children's outfits this will be much welcomed. It includes some boots, coats, and tops for both male and female toddlers and children.

For builders there are also new multi-story columns. While some have height restrictions due to the designs, the simpler ones can be extended all the way up to the maximum building height. The column's height will be limited by the addition of a roof.

Finally, the game options tab now includes a new accessibility option. The first ability in this new menu allows you to scale the UI, rather than it being tied to your monitor's resolution. This will help those who struggle to read the smaller text as well as those who have a high-resolution monitor that makes the UI very small by default.

The patch is now available for PC. For those interested in the community stuff pack, keep an eye out on social media and in your game menu next week. You can also read more about the vote on EA's blog.
