10 Indie is Beloved

Even the most simple, mundane part of life could be made into an interesting game with the right indie developer. Since there are so many choices to choose from, simulation games can offer entertainment to a large audience.

9 You are the Captain

One can feel an overwhelming sense of control in a simulation game. An example of this phenomenon is the Sims franchise. There have been countless videos of gamers playing god with their characters and enjoying it a little too much.

However, this god complex can be traced across a range of simulator games. You are in charge, you make all the decisions without objection and you play how you want to play. The unrivaled control can be addicting as players could lose hours to a game that places them at the wheel.

Game creators can take an action and make it into something new with the use of imagery based on their creativity. The atmosphere came to make something familiar feel entirely new. Even if the graphics did not follow a realistic example, the actions themselves do.

7 No Commitments

Part of taking action in the real world is the understanding of commitment. This concept can also be applied to games as some require a certain level of dedication to meet certain standards or achieve satisfaction. Simulation games do not require the player to make any type of commitment be it in game or not.

Games in this genre inspire a sense of relaxation followed by the knowledge that ones actions will not have any real consequences.

6 No Skills, No Problem

Simulation games reach across a broad spectrum of topics and situations including those that would normally require certain amounts of knowledge or skill. In one game you could be cooking a variety of delicious dishes while in another you could be building a PC.

There are even games that allow you to work as a surgeon. Real life simulators make it so we can perform tasks that would normally be beyond us for any number of reasons.

5 Simplified

Needless to say, most actions in simulator games are simplified or not as complex as those of reality. With this, games are far more enjoyable then if they were to follow the laws of reality, nature or physics.

In fact, there are some games that wouldn't even be possible if realistic elements were more a part of the system in place. By choosing to set aside these few parts, we are able to experience what-if scenarios that would not go beyond a certain point.

4 Satisfaction

People find satisfaction from various things whether it be building a city to meet their ideal or soap cutting. There is a sense of accomplishment or pleasure that steams from the completion of a task or the construction of a structure.

Other genres of games may not inspire this same feeling which is why some may favor simulator games. Simulation games grant that feeling to players through whatever objective is in place.

3 Bang for Your Buck

2 DLC's

With DLC's, the fun never ends as the potential for game-play is expanded. Cities Skylines is an excellent example as the game was released some time ago but the decent list of DLC's have made it so the game-play is far expanded outside the original content.

Even when someone manages to almost perfectly complete a game, a DLC could add so many more hours of play time.
