Monster Hunter: World roared into gamers’ hands on January 26, 2018. The game made its presence known by becoming Capcom’s highest shipping game within the first few days of its initial release. The game sticks to a familiar formula that as players take their unique characters into the vast and vibrant New World to hunt, trap, and research creatures. For players to be successful against powerful creatures, they’ll need powerful armor.

That’s where the Sinister Cloth comes into play. Sinister cloth is described in-game as a suspicious cloth that drips with an aura of pure evil. Keep reading to learn more about this powerful crafting resource.

10 The Armors Created Offer Resistances To Fire, Ice, And Water Elements.

Each piece of the armor has its own set of stat boosts, elemental resistances, and elemental weaknesses. If you collect enough Sinister Cloth and craft the base set, you’ll receive the following boosts to your elemental resistances: plus fifteen to water and ice as well as plus ten to water.

Be careful against lightning and dragon though. You obtain a weakness of minus ten and minus twenty respectively. You’ll also gain the skills resuscitate from the head armor, fortify from the chest armor, focus from the glove armor, dragon attack from the waist armor, and handicraft from the leg armor.

9 No Specific Monster Drops Sinister Cloth

Monster Hunter World Kirin

While the Tailrider Safari Hunts often have specific monsters that the Squad will encounter, don’t interpret that as a sign of how where to get Sinister Cloth yourself. If your Palico obtains Sinister Cloth as a reward when sent out to hunt, you can’t replicate the Palico’s action.

No matter how many of the creature you slay, you won’t obtain any Sinister Cloth. Focus on hunting and gathering the big game that your Palico can’t handle and leave the Sinister Cloth farming to them. After all, no one knows where they dig these things up from, but if the flavor text is any allusion, we don’t want to find out.

8 Sinister Cloth’s Rarity Value Is 5

Several items in Monster Hunter: World are assigned a rarity value to give players a little insight into how valuable or rare something is. Ordinarily, the rarer something is, the more valuable or powerful it is.

The game’s highest rarity value as it stands sits at eight (though DLC may change this number in the future). However, using the current value of eight as a comparison to Sinister Cloth’s rarity, it’s clear that while some more advanced players may scoff at a level five rarity, it is still in the upper half of the threshold for the game’s rarity. In other words, go gather some Sinister Cloth.

7 Each piece of Sinister Cloth Can Be Sold For 350 Zenny

As is the case in most RPG style games, you’re going to need some currency to get by. In Monster Hunter World, the currency of choice is Zenny.

Buying important items, powerful weapons, crafting, and more all require Zenny. Monster Hunter: World is the type of game where everything is valuable in some way even if it isn’t from a monetary perspective. Be that as it may, sometimes nothing beats the feeling of having an abundance of cold, hard Zenny, and selling your spare Sinister Cloth is one way to get some quick.

6 Sinister Cloth Is A Rare Drop Despite Its Rarity Level Not Being Max

While it is known that the Tailrider Safari missions are the way to go if you want to farm Sinister Cloth, the exact drop rate seems to be unknown. It is helpful to make sure to send your Palico pals on high-level Hunting missions.

It’s reported by some players that they received Sinister Cloth more often when facing powerful creatures called Great Jagra and Barroth. To find a high-ranking mission, simply select the region that you wish for your Palico to explore. Once you’ve selected the region, select the route that has the highest number of stars. The more stars, the more difficult the trip for your Palico, and that’s the kind of guts they’ll need to find those Sinister Cloths.

5 5 Sinister Cloths = One Full Set Of Base Death Stench Armor

The base armor created from Sinister Cloth is the Death Stench armor, and there are five pieces total. Each piece requires one Sinister Cloth, the other required materials, and Zenny.

For a complete set of Death Stench armor, you’ll need to craft a Death Stench Brain for head armor, a Death Stench Muscle for chest armor, a Death Stench Grip for arms armor, a Death Stench Bowels for waist armor, and the Death Stench Heels for leg armor. Each piece of armor comes with a useful ability attached as well. While the pieces in the set only have a rarity level of four placing them lower on the scale of other armor classes, as you get stronger and progress through more hunts, you’ll unlock even more powerful versions of the armor called Death Stench Alpha and Death Stench Beta.

4 Sinister Cloth Cannot Be Used To Craft Weapons.

While the Sinister Cloth can be used to craft some useful armor, it isn’t used in the crafting of any weapons. If you’re looking for powerful weapons, best find some other material to handle that part of your journey as a monster hunter.

Though when you really think about it, about the most useful thing someone could use cloth for when it comes to making weapons is a hilt wrap or something decorative. If you have extra sinister cloth and are happy with your armor choices, you could always sell your extra pieces for a little extra gold on the side.

3 3. Sinister Cloth Is Used To Craft Only One Charm: Rally Charm I

In Monster Hunter: World, players can equip their character with accessories called charms that provide a plethora of different bonuses to a character’s skills. This, in turn, can boost stats, effects, or abilities depending on what item is equipped.

The Rally Charm I gives players the skill Palico Rally which increases the power of the player’s Palicoes native to the skill’s level. At level one, the skill increases Palicoes’ attack power by five percent and defense by five percent. The skill continues to stack in increments of five percent up to level five based on how much equipment the player wears that contains the ability.

2 Sinister Cloth Is Most Useful When Combined With Other Materials At The Smithy.

Some might think it common knowledge, but we like to be clear. Sinister Cloth is used to create pieces of Death Stench armor, but you’ll need more than just sinister cloth to craft the armor pieces.

For example, to create the Death Stench Heel Alpha armor, you’ll need two pieces of sinister cloth, one dragonbone relic, two Vaal Hazak membranes, one novacrystal, and twelve thousand Zenny. Once you acquire all of the necessary materials for a particular piece that you want, you’ll need to take them to the Smithy to craft the armor.

1 Sinister Cloth Can Only Be Obtained From Tailrider Safaris.

Tailrider Safaris are a feature that, when unlocked, allows you to send out Palico’s to gather materials for you while you quest.

While it’s possible to send out Palico’s on safari as soon as you unlock the feature, to get the most out of the experience, you also have the option of building up your team by collecting guild cards and adding members to your Squad. Once your squad is more diverse, you’ll have more potential options to choose from when selecting the team to send out on safari. Since the teams are drawn from a randomized pool, the stronger your Squad, the better your potential to form powerful teams.
