Bethesda and Modiphius Games have given an update on the long-awaited tabletop version of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. The board game, which was announced earlier this year, will open for pledges on the crowdfunding site Gamefound early next month. Anyone who backs the game at launch will gain access to the demo.

Last week, Modiphius Games shared an update on the Gamefound page, offering players a peek at the visuals and gameplay. The update also revealed that it will officially launch on Tuesday, November 2. It has been delayed in the past - originally intended to launch back in June - but that was to allow for tweaks to card designs and board layout while getting miniatures approved. It seems as though this new date will stick, though.

Modiphius also offered a look at the three levels of pricing that you can choose - Base, Gameplay, and Deluxe. While the Gameplay and Deluxe tiers have yet to be detailed, the Base reward for the core box will set you back £68 (around $95). It was also announced that anyone who backs the game at launch will gain access to a digital demo. This will be offered through Tabletop Simulator, a digital platform that lets players interact with a virtual version of a physical board game. This simulator is how the team plan to film the gameplay videos for backers.

The rest of the update outlined the gameplay and what is included in the base package - two campaigns, six chapters, and a prequel tutorial. Players will begin their turn by drawing an event card. From there, they will explore caves, mines, tombs, ruins, or Dwemer cities. Then, players will attempt chains of quest cards to earn rewards.

Each decision a player makes will change future gameplay and, along the way, players will encounter enemies they must defeat for experience and treasure. These will then be used to level up and learn unique skills that make traversing the game’s world easier.

This board game is shaping up to be an immersive, physical rendition of the hit RPG Skyrim. You can check it out for yourself when the Gamefound page goes live on November 2.
