Skyrim is a game that can be easily played by a wide range of players. Whether fans are searching for a heroic quest about fighting a dragon or they want to become an all-powerful mage, there are endless paths to explore in this game. For fans of horror, though, Skyrim can be a treat, especially with its dark Daedric Princes and the Dark Brotherhood running free across the providence.
Players who are looking to go on a horror-filled playthrough have quite a few quests they can do. Whether players want to dive into vampires, ghosts, or cannibals, Skyrim has much to offer when it comes to these dark topics.
10 The Taste of Death
The Taste of Death can be activated after you enter the Hall of The Dead in Markarth. This quest puts players in the service of luring a sacrifice to the altar of Nimira. This isn't just a normal sacrifice, though; it's the main course for a feast for Namira's followers, including the player themself.
At the end of the feast, players even get the Ring of Namira, which allows them to play as a cannibal.
9 The House of Horrors
For players looking for a classic haunted house styled storyline, there is The House of Horrors quest, also located in Markarth. This quest will activate after you talk to a man outside of the abandoned house in the city. Upon entering, players will be tasked with venturing further inside.
This will trigger all the items around them to shake, and Molag Bal will request you kill your ally.
8 Innocence Lost
When players arrive in Windhelm, they will hear a rumor that a young boy named Aventus is performing the black sacrament. Upon breaking into his house, players will find the boy praying to the Nightmother over a dead body. The boy will be joyous and ask you to kill Grelod, who runs the orphanage in Riften.
To complete the quest, players must sneak into the orphanage and kill Grelod, which will result in the rest of the children celebrating over her body.
7 With Friends Like These....
After a player has successfully tainted the children of the orphanage, they will be kidnapped the next time they go to sleep. The player will wake up in a shack with three people bound with bags over their heads. Here Astrid will tell you that one of them is part of a contract.
Depending on the player, they can choose to be a hero and kill Astrid, or finish off one or all of the captives.
6 Blood on the Ice
Blood on The Ice is another quest that takes place in Windhelm. Once players enter the city, they can go to the graveyard, where there will be a victim lying on the ground. As it turns out, there have been two other killings, and a serial killer is wandering the streets of the town.
This quest takes the player into a twisted plot about falling into madness and necromancy.
5 Laid to Rest
Upon entering Morthal, players will notice a burnt house in town, and after starting the associated quest, they will find a ghost child inside. The child will tell you about how she died in the fire and then ask you if you will play a game of Hide and Seek with her at nighttime.
The quest focuses on finding out the truth behind the death of the child, who also has a mysterious friend.
4 The Pale Lady
The Pale Lady is a well-known ghost story in the providence. The Pale Lady supposedly lost her own child and now steals the living children she comes across to replace them. This quest will start when players find and enter Frostmere Crypt, which is completely full of bandits.
At the end of the dungeon is a bandit who is confronting the Pale Lady, who the player must destroy or banish.
3 The Gift
This is a shorter quest that is perfect for fans of Dracula or romantic vampire lore. In this quest, a married Dragonborn will be tasked with turning their spouse. To do this, gamers simply need to feed on their spouse, who will change into a vampire afterward.
While this isn't a long quest, it does introduce some interesting and frightening lore into the series.
2 Ancient Power
Ancient Power is another Dawnguard quest that, in all honesty, is pretty disturbing. The player will be instructed to gather a severed part of an ancient vampire. Afterward, players will be able to add this to the blood chalice to enhance their abilities. The blood chalice is creepy enough, but adding in dead vampires makes it worse.
Fans of vampires will enjoy the darker take of the creatures that the Dawnguard DLC adds-in.
1 Listen to Your Mother
If finding body parts for a blood fountain wasn't bad enough, players who join the Dark Brotherhood will have to cuddle up to the Night Mother. This happens when players are tasked with spying on Cicero; to do so, though, you have to break into the Night Mother's coffin and hide inside.
It is here that you will also be able to talk with the Night Mother for the first time about the fallen group.
