The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has become a fan-favorite over the last decade with over ten million players, and none are so beloved as 82-year-old grandmother Shirley Curry. Curry rose to internet fame as the oldest person to play Skyrim, and captured Skyrim fans’ hearts with her wholesome YouTube videos. Now, a modder is adding her into her favorite game as a follower.

Almost fifty thousand Elder Scrolls fans have already signed a petition to add Curry as a follower in the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI. Bethesda confirmed that Curry, known as “Skyrim Grandma,” will appear in the game. Still, we’ve only gotten hints of Elder Scrolls VI, and it may not come out for a few years. Thankfully, this new mod will be able to tide over hopeful players for a little while.

Reddit user phantom-scribbler, one of the developers for a mod project called “Shirley – A Skyrim Follower mod,” posted a teaser trailer for the project. The short video opens with many clips of Curry’s signature greeting, “Good morning, grandkids!” It then transitions into a sweeping shot of a small cottage and the first view of Curry in Skyrim.

The mod team worked with Curry to make the follower mod. A team of Skyrim Grandma fans pored over the recordings of her gameplay and submitted lines that could be used as follower dialog. However, since not all of the lines were usable, Curry came in to record lines for the mod, because, as phantom-scribbler says, she truly cares about her subscribers and the project.

The mod is currently in its final testing stages. The team is planning to release a 1.0 version of the mod in early 2020. Skyrim players will be able to play with their favorite grandma on PC, and the developers say that Xbox “should be possible.” It will allow fans of the Skyrim Grandma to play through the world of Tamriel with her before  Elder Scrolls VI comes out. And fans won’t have to worry about Curry as they adventure through the Skyrim wilderness; the follower is set to essential.
