If you've ever dabbled in gaming, chances are you've tried your hand at Skyrim before. It's a little bit like a rite of passage. And if you've tried Skyrim, you've likely experienced the iconic opening cut scene in which your newly-created avatar awakens in the back of a horse-drawn cart.

In this scene, you open your eyes to discover the blond guy, Ralof, sitting across from you. As soon as he uttered the words, "Hey, you. You're finally awake," a new meme format was born. Now you get to scroll away and enjoy all of the best "You're Finally Awake" memes the internet has to offer.

10 Skyrim at Area 51

Albeit a little outdated, this meme references the fictitious Facebook event to raid Area 51 in September 2019. On the Facebook event page, the event creator Matty Roberts suggested "Naruto running" to outrun the military's bullets, which is why in this meme, Ralof references the Naruto runner you're sitting by rather than the thief from Skyrim's original script. This version of the meme is pretty perfect because it fits in very well with the script already given us by the game while referencing another viral internet meme.

9 Ralof or Ronald?

While the context behind this photo is unknown, the photo still works perfectly for a hilarious Skyrim meme. Though there are no horses to be seen, these four Ronald McDonald statues sit upon their respective benches and look exactly like you might imagine your Skyrim character and Ralof looked sitting in that wagon.

This is why simply slapping on the dialogue from the game works so perfectly and effortlessly. Now as for which Ronald is your character, Ralof, and the thief? That's for you to decide.

8 Merry Christmas from Skyrim

This meme format works pretty well for just about any scenario where you're waking someone up or someone else is waking you up. What day is more well-known for its early waking time than Christmas Day? Younger siblings are well-known for being impatient to unwrap their presents, and on Christmas morning, they don't have time for you to sleep in! It should come as no surprise that your little brother will do a great Ralof impersonation when he wants you awake. But hey, you probably did the same thing to your parents or older siblings when you were his age, right?

7 Romantic Ralof

This meme doesn't necessarily cross-over with any other games or TV shows like some of the other memes on this list do, but it still works because of the unexpected twist. Usually, when someone can't wait to wake up next to somebody, it's accompanied by a photo of a crush or significant other. In this case, whoever made the meme is insinuating that Ralof would be the perfect person to wake up next to.

It's a pretty unexpected twist on the opening to this iconic scene, and the unexpected is usually pretty funny.

6 Skyrim Meets Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming video game starring Keanu Reeves with a tagline not unlike Skyrim's "You're Finally Awake" meme. In the teaser for Cyberpunk 2077, Keanu Reeves' character Johnny Silverhand says, "Wake the f**k up, Samurai. We have a city to burn." Naturally, gamers saw the parallel between these two lines and combined them. Somebody with Photoshop skills even took it upon themselves to put Silverhand's awesome aviators on Ralof's face and slap the Cyberpunk 2077 logo across his body to complete the crossover effect. It kind of makes you think Ralof belongs in Cyberpunk.

5 Heroes & Generals in Skyrim

Not unlike the truck full of Ronald McDonald statues, this meme depicts some guys sitting in the back of a truck much like Skyrim characters. But in this case, the truck and the guys in it are virtual.

This is a screenshot from a 2016 free-to-play game based on events in WWII called Heroes & Generals. The setting is certainly more realistic than Skyrim, but that doesn't make the game immune to the "You're Finally Awake" meme treatment. It seems that pretty much any scene that looks like the opening Skyrim scene isn't immune to this meme.

4 Ralof from The Polar Express

Anyone who's seen The Polar Express (2004) knows how annoying the kid in the glasses and yellow pajamas is. He doesn't irritate just the kids in the movie. He annoys the conductor and the movie's audience with his know-it-all attitude. In other words, he's pretty much the worst animated character to wake up to, especially in the back of a small horse-drawn wagon on your way to who-knows-where. So thanks for the visual, but we'll take Ralof and his blond braids and filthy clothes over the annoying know-it-all any time.

3 Geralt Meets Ralof

These days, when people think of a guy living in the Middle Ages with long blond hair and huge muscles, they're likely to think of Geralt from Netflix's new series The Witcher (which, as everyone knows, is based on the video game by the same name) instead of Ralof.

Skyrim has been out for a few years by now, and Ralof isn't the first to spring to mind anymore. But that just makes this crossover meme even more hilarious. In this case, the greasy blond is the one waking up to someone else talking to him, but the scene still fits.

2 A Smooth Crossover

This meme is as smooth as butter in its transition from a Fallout 76 review to a throwback to Skyrim. It follows a similar format to the original "You're Finally Awake" or "Toddroll" meme like the one found here, which doesn't require a picture of Ralof to work. Fans of both games are bound to find this version of the meme pretty funny (assuming there are any fans of Fallout 76 left!) But whether or not you're a fan of Fallout 76, this meme shows how simple it is to make an entire gaming community laugh in just two sentences.

1 Tom Wakes Up in Skyrim

This meme is perfect because it's two popular memes combined into one photo. On the one side, you have your Skyrim character waking up to Ralof in that old familiar cart. On the other, you have Jerry from Tom and Jerry slowly waking up, which insinuates that Tom is the one waking up in Skyrim and being very confused about it. It's even better considering the Khajiit beast race in Skyrim look like cats. So if you're a fan of Skyrim and Tom and Jerry or just a lover of memes, this is definitely the meme for you!
