At the College of Winterhold, mages from across Skyrim could assemble regardless of class or creed and receive a magical education. A good thing, too, as the College of Winterhold’s questline impressed the importance of arcane knowledge, lest the player accidentally end the world using the Eye of Magnus.
However, vanilla Skyrim’s College of Winterhold quests always lacked a certain educational component to them. Saving all of Tamriel from magical annihilation is all well and good, but a Dragonborn goes to college to learn, not to save the world, and the opening instructional quests at the College seemed woefully insufficient to teach aspiring mages how to sling spells.
Enter the College of Winterhold - Quest Expansion, a new mod from long-time mod maker JaySerpa. This mod adds seven new quests to the College of Winterhold that will actually teach even the most stubborn Dragonborn a thing or two about magic.
Each quest generally follows the same format. First, talk to the professor about the school of magic you’d like to learn, either Alteration, Destruction, Illusion, Enchantment, Conjuration, or Restoration. The seventh lesson is a general knowledge test provided by head librarian Urag. After that, you’ll have to sit through an actual lecture to learn more about that particular school of magic. Finally, a practical exam lets you show off everything you’ve learned.
The mod is far more in depth than the standard College of Winterhold intro quest. It’s also fully voiced using spliced dialogue and each school can be completed in any order. Note that installing this mod will require the player to complete this quest before moving onto the rest of the College of Winterhold’s questline.
