Witcher mods for Skyrim aren’t anything new. Geralt of Rivia has made his way into the game thanks to several mods, including one where he’s actually nude. However, the Play as a Witcher mod not only allows you to take on the role of the White Wolf, but makes Witchers into a playable race (Thanks, PCGamesN).
Like most RPGs Skyrim allows you to choose from a set number of races your character could belong to. Creator RobA’s mod has added Witchers to this list. “They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives,” reads the description of the race in the character creation menu. That’s not too far off from what people think of Witchers in Andrzej Sapkowski’s universe.
You don’t necessarily have to play with a character that looks like Geralt either, you can still customise them to your preference but the characteristic yellow eyes will remain constant. The race even has its own set of unique traits and perks. Due to the Trial of Grasses, Witchers are nearly immune to all diseases and have a 50 percent resistance to frost, fire, magic, and shock.
Their ‘Mutagen Endomorphisis’ powers also grant them an increased regeneration rate for Magica and Health, as well as faster movement speed. Of course, Signs are a major part of a Witcher’s arsenal; RobA has repurposed existing spells to create Aard, Igni Blast, and Igni Stream Signs with more in the pipeline.
The creator has further recommended applying the Witcher's Adventure and The Witcher 3 Music Overhaul mods if you truly want to get into the character. While Skyrim does not have the monster variety that Witchers are used to, RobA recommends checking out Mihail Monsters and Animas to spice things up a bit.
Skyrim is an ever changing place thanks to the plethora of mods at your disposal. If you’re a Breath of the Wild fan, the paraglider mod will help you reach those pesky flying dragons or glide around the map. Alternatively, all you MCU buff’s could have Shang-Chi tag along on your adventures. Unfortunately, he can’t use the Ten Rings just yet.
