Slice is teaming up with Ubisoft to expand into gaming, offering a slew of rewards when you order a pizza through their app, but chief among those rewards are the five PS5s that it is giving away at random.

For context, it's a pizza app dedicated to promoting local pizzerias, giving them a platform akin to the chains. It works the same way as typical delivery services such as Just Eat - you place an order, get an update, and your food is brought to your doorstep. We've all been there at 9 pm, having wasted most of the day scrolling through our Steam libraries, only to find that the day has gone - there's no time to cook, so you grab a pizza. Now, instead of feeling guilty, you can feel guilty and get some cool gaming perks. Starting today, if you use the app, you're in with a chance of winning one of those PS5s, but that's not all.

This is all thanks to its partnership with the giant French publisher Ubisoft, known for its work on Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, The Division, and much, much more. It's quite the catch for Slice since it means that its push into gaming already has a solid foundation due to being backed by one of the industry's leading studios. This initiative is aptly titled Slice Gaming to indicate as much and, through ordering pizza, you can win codes, "video game perks," and more. The PS5 giveaway is a kickstart to this reward scheme.

Overall, there are 16,000 local pizzerias in its network meaning that there's a high chance you'll find one in your area, letting you get in on the action. However, it is American only, so if you're a Brit like me or live anywhere else in the world, you're out of luck for now.

The goal is to "reward gamers for supporting small businesses" with the aim of doing something distinctly different from the typical partnerships we see every other week, the ones that often prop up international establishments. The app cites Taco Bell, Pizza Hutt, and Buffalo Wild Wings as key examples of this commonality.

Supporting local businesses while gaming is the goal, but while you'll only be in with a slither of a chance to win a PS5, signing up to Slice Gaming guarantees in-game rewards with every purchase to do just that. So, you can merge the two worlds of gaming and pizza more closely than ever. Well, aside from that time in Final Fantasy 14.
