SLIVER.tv is partnering with Splitgate: Arena Warfare to be the next big thing in Esports streaming.

You might not have heard of Splitgate, so we’re going to solve that problem right here and now. Splitgate: Arena Warfare is a new game coming from 1047 Games, an indie studio who’s really hoping to launch an Esports revolution with their debut title.

Splitgate is neatly summarized as a mashup between Portal and arena multiplayer shooters like Halo 3 or Unreal Tournament. Players all spawn in the same fantastic arena with the same loadouts and the same ability to create portals, and then start flying all over the place trying to kill each other.

However, the aesthetic is very much that of a science fiction football league. Everything is bright colors and standardized uniforms, only painted over the same sort of armor as if it took place in the Halo universe.

1047 is really hoping that Splitgate becomes the next big thing in Esports. That’s why they’ve just partnered with SLIVER.tv, a company that bills itself as a “next generation Esports platform.” Viewers can watch Spitgate streamers and earn cool in-game rewards through a SLIVER.tv currency called “Theta Fuel,” or TFuel for short. TFuel can be exchanged for things like gun or player skins or be donated back to the streamer.

The big difference between SLIVER and something like Twitch is that SLIVER uses blockchain technology so viewers share their upload bandwidth to help broadcast the stream. Twitch just relies on massive Amazon-funded servers, so doesn’t need to ask for a bandwidth donation from its viewers.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with SLIVER.tv and bringing unique TFuel rewards to Splitgate players,” said 1047 Games co-founder Ian Proulx in a statement. “The streamers benefit from seeing tons of engaged viewers, who earn exclusive skins for watching Splitgate gameplay, and we, the developer, get more players enjoying our game. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!”

Judging by the trailer and how popular this game has been during its Beta testing period, Splitgate has every chance of growing into the next big Esports title.

Splitgate: Arena Warfare releases on Steam on May 24th.
