Smash Ultimate: Ganondorf Is The Most Popular Character Online According To Redditor's Statistics

Redditor keeps track of how often their opponents use different characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and discovers we are all obsessed with Ganondorf.

If you have been playing Super Smash Bros. for as long as we have then you will undoubtedly have your own go-to characters. Your favorites might well have been set in stone all the way back in your Melee days and remain your favorites today. However, the sheer size of the Ultimate roster means discovering who works well for you and who doesn't is harder than ever.

For newbies, gauging who other players use on a regular basis is a good jumping off point. Luckily, one Redditor has done the leg work for us in that regard. After fonzzz002 felt like they were coming up against the same characters over and over again while playing Ultimate online, they decided to start keeping track of exactly who their rivals were using most.

We were fully expecting to read through the findings and discover the usual suspects at the top of the table - the likes of Link and Marth. However, we were pleasantly surprised and also mildly baffled. It turns out the character fonzzz002 encountered most was Ganondorf. In fact, Ganon won the race by what we would consider a landslide.

The Zelda villain popped up in battle 14 times. He is a powerful fighter - his overhead sword swing (you might know it as "Doryaaa!") is especially devastating. The next closest was Joker, but we would assume that is only the case since he is so new to the game. After those two, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, and King K. Rool rocked up in third with six times each. That's right, less than half the amount of times Ganondorf waded into battle. Sadly, over the two week period that the stats were collated, some fighters didn't appear at all.

In total, nine characters did not make a solitary appearance during the 179 matches. As avid users of Pac-Man and Sonic, who were both featured among the nine, we are incredibly disappointed. On the other hand, this goes some way to explaining why we are so terrible when we dare to play Ultimate online. Nothing but Ganondorf from here on in, there'll be no stopping us!
