Watch: Smash Streamers Mew2King And Plup Use Jiggly And Isabelle To Torture A Poor Mario Player

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Twitch streamers Mew2King and Plup managed to trap a Mario player between Isabelle and Jigglypuff for far too long.

Smash Bros. streamers Mew2King and Plup showed no mercy to a poor defenseless player just trying to have some fun as their favorite Italian plumber.

Like any form of entertainment, the video game world has changed a lot in the space of the last two decades. In fact, it might well have changed more than any other form of entertainment. You need do nothing more than compare the graphics of the 1990s to today's for some hard evidence backing that up.

Other than that, one of the biggest differences is how we consume our games. Nowadays, the onus of many developers is placed on creating a game that can be played online. The single-player story mode is now secondary in a lot of cases, and in some instances isn't included at all. What that sadly means is we discover how truly bad we are at a game very quickly.

Take Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, for example. In the original iterations of the series, the only time we would get shown up is when that one friend who was better than us came to visit. Now, all we need to do is play a couple of rounds online and get knocked right back to the safety of pummelling level three computer players. Take a look at the clip below for some hard evidence of that.

Streamers Mew2King and Plup don't just annihilate the poor player using Mario, they effectively torture them. Plup uses Jigglypuff to sing the plumber to sleep while Mew2King gets in some digs with Isabelle. Every time Mario awakes and tries to escape, even if it is only to leap off the stage for the sweet release, he is lulled right back to sleep by the soft-singing Pokémon.

That is exactly why we are reluctant to play Smash Ultimate online. That said, Mew2King is also an example of the kind of play we love to see in the game. If we got the epic battle Mew2King is engaged in during this second clip, we would be more prone to venture online, even if it does end in defeat. Every few weeks we get a wave of confidence and stupidly believe we are ready to take on the world, then we are quickly proven wrong. On the bright side, the players we get paired against at least have the decency to just beat us in short order and not trap us in an inescapable nightmare between Isabelle and Jigglypuff.
