The latest update for Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster has added a feature that will let players choose the skills inherited by demons during fusion, removing a frustrating random element from the game.

One of the main mechanics of the Shin Megami Tensei  & Persona series is demon fusion. In most entries in the series, the main character can fuse demons together, in order to make stronger creatures. In the later entries in the series, the player could choose which skills were inherited from the parent demons. The older Shin Megami Tensei & Persona games would often force the demon to have a random selection of skills from its parents, leading to a lot of messing around if you wanted a specific set of powers.

Nocturne HD was released in a notoriously glitchy state. Atlus has released a patch that fixes some of the biggest issues with the game, as well as adding some much-needed improvements. According to Persona Central, a new option has been added to the Cathedral of Shadows, allowing players to select specific skills when fusing a demon.

The 1.02 update for Nocturne HD also changes the new DLC maps, in order to make them easier to complete. A number of bugs have also been fixed, and the Demonic Compendium can now be completed on all difficulty modes. One of the benefits of having to wait longer to receive a game to be localized is that this patch should be present in the English version at launch.

The old Shin Megami Tensei & Persona games had a number of features that just made the game more frustrating to play, which is why they were slowly removed over time. The latest update for Nocturne HD will make it easier to craft a powerful team, and you're gonna need one, as this game is brutally hard.
