A new batch of retro games has been announced for the Nintendo Switch Online service, with four new NES & SNES games being added on May 20.

The Nintendo Switch Online service launched with twenty NES games and it was originally Nintendo's intention to add new games every month. Nintendo would go on to add SNES games to the service, with the caveat that new game additions would no longer be on a set schedule. Since then, Nintendo has been adding NES and SNES games to the service at random intervals.

The official Nintendo YouTube channel has announced the next four games to come to the Switch Online service. Panel de Pon, Wild Guns, and Operation Logic Bomb will be coming to the SNES app and Rygar will be coming to the NES app on May 20.

Panel de Pon is a Japanese puzzle game that was originally localized as Tetris Attack in the west. It's likely that it would cost money for Nintendo to license a Tetris game for the SNES app, which is why the company decided to release a Japanese game instead. Wild Guns is a shooter in the same vein as Sunset Riders, which received an updated port a few years ago under the name Wild Guns Reloaded. Operation Logic Bomb is an overhead shooter that resembles Contra III: The Alien Wars or Smash TV. Rygar was a popular platformer on the Nintendo Entertainment System which was ported to a number of systems, as well as receiving a full 3D remake on the PlayStation 2.

The addition of these titles means that Nintendo Switch Online now offers over eighty retro games to subscribers, which is a pretty good deal considering the low cost of the annual subscription, as well as receiving Tetris 99. It's just a shame that the Switch's online services aren't up to snuff compared to that of the competition.
