Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 developer CI Games has announced that the PS5 version of the game will be delayed due to unforeseen technical issues.

In a statement shared by VG24/7, CI Games claims that it "could not have foreseen these issues" and that the team would still be working hard to resolve the issues with the PS5 version and to ensure a smooth launch on other consoles:

"We would like to assure our players that our highly experienced, professional, and dedicated team are working hard with the platform holder and engine provider to resolve the problems as soon as feasibly possible, to ensure we can bring the PS5 community the high caliber sniping game they have been waiting for."

Thankfully, it doesn't seem like the delay has affected the release of the game on any other console, including PS4. Both the physical and digital versions of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 on PS4 will also be eligible for a free upgrade to next-gen versions, allowing PS5 players to pick up the PS4 version and upgrade once the PS5 version is ready to be released.

As an apology for the delay, CI Games has also announced that it will be making the game's first major DLC release free for all customers regardless of platform. There's currently no news on what this DLC will be, but VG24/7 claims that more news is coming soon.

If you're wondering where you've heard the name CI Games before, the developer is well known for its work on the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series as well as Lords of the Fallen in 2013. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 has players taking on the role of Raven who is sent on a number of dangerous missions to take out members of an evil crime syndicate from the Middle East.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is still set to release on June 4th, for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders for both the physical and digital editions of the game are available now. All customers who pre-order the game will receive two exclusive weapons as well as a couple of exclusive weapons skins.
