Some childhood gaming experiences are just universal. You lock the butler in the freezer in Tomb Raider 2. You settle Smash Bros. Melee feuds at Hyrule Temple. And for those of you who spent the good ol' days on a Dreamcast, you picked up the burger man statue in Sonic Adventure and put him in front of oncoming traffic.
But now, if you've left those violent tendencies behind you, you can instead make amends with the statue that straight up looks like an NPC. Thanks to modder chaomix, you will be able to play through the entirety of Sonic Adventure 2 as him instead, showing him more respect than any of us have done before.
The fittingly titled Burgerman Adventure 2 mod does just what you'd expect - it brings the statue to life and adds him to your party. He takes the role of Sonic, because of course, meaning you'll speed through all the fast-paced platforming levels with him instead.
This mod doesn't just simply replace the character model. Chaomix has even gone to the effort to create some new, completely original artwork for the character, depicting him in Sonic's iconic post from the first game's box art. Any relevant in-game art is replaced by a new character portrait too, so your Burgerman Adventure 2 playthrough immersion will not be broken.
If you were in the market for a new Sonic game this year, this quirky little mod might just have to fill the hole. Despite the blue blur celebrating his 30th anniversary this year, we didn't get a new Sonic game to mark the occasion. However, given previous attempts at a birthday tie-in, that could have been incredibly hit or miss.
What we did get, however, was a beautifully performed anniversary orchestra, celebrating the best part of the Sonic franchise - its music. With a mix of classical and rock, it was the perfect way to mark the big day. If you missed it, the entire performance can now be accessed on most music streaming platforms.
