Ian Flynn is well known in the Sonic community, having written for a bunch of Sonic projects across, games, TV shows, and comics. He was also one of the main writers for Sonic Frontiers, a title well-loved by fans of the series, with one of the more interesting plots in the blue blur's recent outings. Now we know the title is getting some story DLC, questions were raised as to whether Flynn would return to write the script given how he helped with the main game. After rumors of Flynn's return began to circulate, the writer himself put fans out of their misery and confirmed that he will be returning to Sonic Frontiers for the upcoming story DLC. Flynn announced his return via his personal Twitter account, explaining that the details of the story were given to him by game director Morio Kishimoto and that his job is to simply flesh everything out and add some detail.Related: Chaos Island Is Sonic Frontiers At Its WorstHowever, Flynn couldn't resist teasing the Sonic community just a smidge, and states that the upcoming story DLC for Sonic Frontiers will be "truly important". Those who have played Frontiers will know that it quite heavily focused on Sonic's relationships with other characters such as Amy, Knuckles, and Tails, so we could see some big changes in this DLC, or perhaps a new character or two, that could effect how they interact with each other going forward.

As for when we'll actually get this DLC, Sega released a roadmap for Sonic Frontiers last year, in which it revealed different playable characters and story DLC would be launching at some point in 2023. We still don't have a release date for these just yet, but at least we know we'll be getting plenty of smaller updates to keep us going until then.

In other Sonic-related news, rumors of a new selection of Sonic-themed Lego sets were confirmed last week, as the company announced four new sets which will launch this August. Two of these sets also include Lego debuts for both Tails and Amy, as their Workshop and Island will be immortalised in brick form respectively. The other two sets are filled with bits and pieces of iconic Sonic the Hedgehog scenery, including a big loop and a boss battle with Dr. Eggman.
