Kronos Island is the first area you'll visit in Sonic Frontiers. Scattered across the barren landscape are more than two dozen Challenges, puzzles that require you to use all the skills you've learned throughout your journey. Completing them yields red and blue seeds which can be turned in to Hermit Koco for stat boosts, and also reveals more of the map.
Completing every Challenge on an island unlocks fast travel while you're there, so it's worth hunting down and finishing all of them to save time later. If any of Kronos' Challenges are giving you trouble, read below to finish them in no time!
M-001
- Location: Tutorial, immediately after leaving Stage 1-2.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Simply stand on each switch for a second until they light up. They can be activated in any order.
M-002
- Location: Tutorial, immediately after learning Cyloop.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Use the newly-acquired Cyloop skill to encircle all three torches.
M-003
- Location: Just west of the Blue Emerald Vault.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Use Homing Attack to hit all five targets in a single combo.

M-004
- Location: North of the Stage 1-3 portal.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Step on all the lit tiles without going back or stepping off of them. Just go in a square, and you’ll finish the challenge.
M-005
- Location: West and slightly north of Stage 1-3. You’ll need to defeat the nearby Asura first.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Use Homing Attack on the three nearby targets to make them float into the sky. Once all three are in the air, use Homing attack on the lowest one, and Sonic will land on top of it. Repeat this process for all three before the platforms return to the ground, and press the button at the top of the course.
M-006
- Location: North of the Stage 1-3 portal, south of the tall tower.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Hit the hourglass with Homing Attack to start the timer, then run along the ridge at full speed toward the goal. As long as you boost the whole way and don’t get lost, you should make it with time to spare.
M-007
- Location: Next to the goal from M-006, northwest of Stage 1-4.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Step into the loop and run in it like a hamster wheel until it fully charges.
M-008
- Location: West of the Red Emerald Vault.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Use Cyloop to encircle the ring of flowers at the challenge marker.
M-009
- Location: Northeast of Stage 1-4.
- Reward: Red Seed
Use Cyloop around the triangular stone at the base of the structure. This will cause it to extend upward. Run up the side to reach the top, then use Cyloop to extinguish the torch you find there. If the stone recedes, you can restart the challenge by using Cyloop on the triangular stone and try again.
M-010
- Location: Northwest of the Red Emerald Vault.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
This Challenge is identical to M-007. Run in the wheel until it’s fully charged.
M-011
- Location: East of Stage 1-5.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Step on the lit tile in the center. Press the appropriate Dodge button to roll left or right to each tile as they light up. Be sure not to hold the button for too long or you’ll roll off the grid entirely and be forced to start again. The challenge will complete after you’ve hit seven lit tiles.
M-012
- Location: West of Stage 1-5.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Hit the hourglass with Homing Attack to start the timer. Run straight toward the tower and you’ll see some bounce pads at the base that will start your ascent. There are several paths - just follow the grind rails, balloons, bounce pads, and black walls and you should easily make it to the top with time to spare. Be sure to talk to Sage and collect the lost Koco when you reach the top!
M-013
- Location: East and slightly north of the Yellow Emerald Vault. It’s on the rocky natural bridge above the river, so if you don’t see it then climb up!
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Look north, toward the Eggman landing site, to see some moving platforms just past the edge of the cliff. Each has a button in the center; press all three to finish the challenge.
M-014
- Location: Northwest of the Red Emerald Vault; only available at night.
- Reward: Blue Seed
Use Cyloop to activate all the glowing trees in the area (five in total).
M-015

- Location: Northeast of the Yellow Emerald Vault, northwest of the second Asura. Only available at night.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Use Cyloop to activate all the glowing spots near the Challenge Marker. When all are activated, you’ll receive your reward. They appear one at a time; the first two on the platform with the Challenge Marker, the next two on the lower platform, and the final target is on top of the Egg Capsule nearby. It can easily be reached by using Homing Attack on the balloons above the lower platform.
M-016
Location: Northwest of Stage 1-4. You’ll automatically be sent near this challenge after the first battle with Giganto.
Reward: Red Seed.
Follow the diagram above to step on the tiles in the correct order.
M-017
- Location: Northeast of the Yellow Emerald Vault.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Use Cyloop around the pedestal to activate it, then use Homing Attack to knock the blue ball that appears through the loop.
M-018
- Location: Southwest of the Yellow Emerald Vault.
- Reward: Blue Seed, plus some Purple Coins and Koco at the goal.
Hit the hourglass with Homing Attack to start the challenge. Follow the line of rings directly in front of you for an easy path to the goal. You have a full 45 seconds, so you have plenty of time to correct your course if you get lost!
M-019
- Location: East of the Stage 1-6 Portal. Sage is standing nearby, so be sure to talk to her while you’re in the area!
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Activate the pedestal with Cyloop, then use Homing Attack to hit the ball through the hoop. You’ll need to jump before attacking to get the correct angle.
M-020
- Location: West of the Yellow Emerald Vault. Remember to look on the pillars in the corners of the puzzle area for lost Koco!
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Follow the path shown above to step on all the lit tiles exactly once without stepping on a dark tile.
M-021
- Location: West of the Yellow Emerald Vault, near the goal from Challenge M-018.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Attack the hourglass to start the timer, then follow the path of black dirt to reach and cross the red bridge. You can use Light Dash to zip along the lines of rings on the way, but even if you take your time you can still reach the goal easily within the time limit.
M-022
- Location: Northeast of the Stage 1-6 Portal.
- Reward: Blue Seed.
Use Homing Attack to reach the top of the floating platforms one by one, until you can press the switch at the top of the course. You may need to adjust the camera angle on the go in order to make sure you have a target for each Homing Attack.
M-023
- Location: Northwest of the Yellow Emerald Vault, along Squid’s path.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Start the challenge by attacking the hourglass, then run toward the cliffs with the Eggman platforms. Use Cyloop to activate all of the glowing spots. Once all have been activated, the challenge is complete. You’ll have an opportunity to grab some Purple Coins and even a hidden Vault Key at the same time!
M-024
- Location: Northwest of the White Emerald Vault, against the cliffs.
- Reward: Red Seed.
Use Cyloop to blow away the pile of leaves, then press the switch hidden underneath.
M-025
- Location: West of the White Emerald Vault, north of the Purple Portal.
- Reward: Blue Seed
Step on the green tile to start the puzzle, then dodge left and right to hit the tiles as they light up. After seven correct inputs, the challenge will complete.
