Steam's backend has given us a better idea of when we'll be able to get our hands on Sonic Frontiers this year, as the game's release date has been changed from September 1 to November 8.

Most of the heavy hitters this year have finally revealed their release dates, but Sonic Frontiers is one of the biggest titles that is still yet to let fans know when it will launch. However, we now have evidence that a potential announcement is imminent, as the SteamDB page for Sonic Frontiers has updated the game's release date to November 8

It's worth noting that an updated release date on SteamDB doesn't necessarily confirm that a game will launch on that day. Publishers are required to provide a release date to have their games on Steam, so some may just choose to use placeholders until they're ready to reveal a permanent release date. Although, Sonic Frontiers' updated release date aligns with the game's previously announced "holiday" launch plans.

If the November 8 release date is accurate, then Sega has decided to throw hands with one of the biggest games of the year. God of War: Ragnarok is set to release on November 9, and with Skull and Bones set to launch on November 8, Sonic is going to have some pretty stiff competition to overcome should the release date prove to be genuine.

We may not know a release date just yet, but the head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka recently revealed a few more details about the game as well as the Sonic series as a whole in a new quickfire interview. Those hoping that Chao Gardens would be included in Sonic Frontiers will be disappointed as Iizuka has categorically ruled them out despite claiming they're one of the game's most requested features.

Other little tidbits that Iizuka revealed were that Sonic Adventure 2 is his personal favorite game in the franchise and that we will get another game in the Adventure series "some day."
