Longtime Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor Roger Craig Smith was vocal on Twitter recently regarding not being able to obtain a role as an actor.

Saying how many will often ask about Smith's reaction to not getting a certain role as an actor, Smith gave a rhetorical response to the question in a tweet somewhat critical of the question itself.

The tweet from Smith can be seen below.

Above, it can be seen that Smith sees himself as a passionate actor driven by his acting gigs. As such, when asked about not getting or being considered for a gig, he states that he has negative feelings and asks readers of the tweet to consider what their reaction would be.

It's hard to know what Smith's tweet is specifically with reference to. It's worth noting that the upcoming film, Sonic the Hedgehog, stars Ben Schwartz as the motion capture and voice actor instead of Roger Craig Smith. Smith has been the voice of Sonic in many games over the years, and also provided Sonic's voice in Wreck-It Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet.

However, Smith has also starred in numerous other voice acting roles. For instance, he also lent his voice to Naruto, Bleach, the Metal Gear Solid series, the Resident Evil series, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Dying Light.

While it isn't known whether Smith is specifically reacting to his absence from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, it could be likely, since he may be asked about it frequently.

As for the movie itself, Sonic the Hedgehog will be hitting theaters February 14th, just in time for Valentine's Day. While the movie's reviews have yet to come in, the level of excitement from fans isn't all too high. Ever since the disappointing original trailer, fans have been displeased with the handling of the Sonic movie. Sonic did get a decent redesign to look more like his 3D game counterpart, but the rumored $5 million redesign hasn't done much to increase the excitement for the movie.

Perhaps the movie would be more engaging for longtime Sonic fans if it starred Smith as the voice actor. Guess we'll see soon, considering the movie drops next week.
