Sons of the Forest has become the latest video game phenomenon, selling over 24 million copies in just 24 hours and quickly rising to fifth spot in Steam most played titles. Obviously, there's a lot of enjoyment to be had with the game's slow base building and survival mechanics, but one player isn't satisfied with sitting around and building a little log cabin. Instead, they've tasked themselves with finishing the game as quickly as possible, and have seemingly managed to set a world record speedrun of 7 minutes and 38 seconds.

First shared by GamesRadar, a YouTuber by the name of OkiaBetter has uploaded their world record run to their YouTube channel, which involves all kind of glitches and tricks to finish the game in the same amount of time it takes most people to pick out a good spot for their base. We've embedded the video below for you down below, which starts out with OkiaBetter waking up and immediately gunning it to the top of a nearby mountain by using glitches to scale a cliff face.

They then jump off the mountain at a certain point and and kill themselves, presumably to warp to a specific location in the world. After cutting themselves down, OkiaBetter sprints into the forest, grabbing a variety of resources along the way and using the notebook glitch to slide whenever they come across a slope or cliff. If this is the first you're hearing of the notebook glitch, players have been using this little trick to avoid taking fall damage by pulling up the noteback during a fall to both avoid dying and to slide at high speeds across vast distances.

I'll avoid talking in detail to avoid spoilers, though another glitch Okita uses is to plant sticks at certain points to clip through walls, eventually managing to clip and slide all the way to the finish line. They even reckon they could shave another 10 or 15 seconds off their time if they nailed their slides, although these glitches will likely be patched pretty soon. Now we just have to wait for the glitchless speedrun.
