Sony's Answer To Phantasy Star On Xbox: Black Desert Is Coming To PS4

Black Desert is finally coming to the PlayStation 4! Pearl Abyss has announced a 2019 PlayStation launch for the open-world action MMORPG at its second annual Into The Abyss event at E3. Pre-orders will be available July 2 and provide players with early access to the full game along with in-game rewards.

Kwangsam Kim, the Lead Producer of Black Desert at Pearl Abyss has said that the team is working hard to ensure that Black Desert is the absolute best that it can be, and are finally prepared to reward their patient player base, “If you’ve been looking for a open-world action MMORPG on the PS4 with deep personalization to fit your gameplay experience, we encourage you to pre-order this July.”

The release onto the PS4 will also feature 4K resolution support for the PS4 Pro, which should add a stunning level of visual detail to the already beautiful world.

The PS4 is not the only system receiving the game in the near future. Pearl Abyss also revealed that Black Desert Mobile will be available everywhere in 2019 for both the iOS and Android platforms. Currently, the game is available in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

The announcement comes shortly on the heels of the new class reveal for Shai, which is set to shake things up as its rather unique from other classes. As the Shai is far less offensive and more oriented around supporting allies, the class is meant for a different style of play. Creating a Shai will immediately give her Master level of both alchemy and gathering, as well as a unique crafting recipe for the “Bonfire,” which is a new social object.

Along with the new class, there is also The Great Sea update. This will see a shift away from only fishing and sea monsters with the introduction of sea tides and wind currents with different directions. This will permit adventures to gain a speed boost if aligned with the wind correctly.

For this, there are also new ships, namely the Carrack, Galley, Panokseon, and more. There is no doubt that these will play an integral part in the development of the story and the major happenings of the new content. In particular, one of the new islands to be added will feature a conflict between Crio and Papu, so consider carefully which ship to use and get ready for a fight!

That new content will be rolling out sooner in mid-June, but will all be ready to access on the PS4 once the game has launched there.

Black Desert is currently available on Windows PC in some regions, and Xbox One.
