Turns out those leaked DualSense color options were right on the money. Sony just revealed two new DualSense controllers that are red and black, exactly as described, but still far more breathtaking to see in all their glory.

First up is Cosmic Red, featuring black detailing and a deep red, almost maroon-colored outer shell. It features the same dark black as found in the next color option, called Midnight Black, which offers two subtly different shades partnered with light grey detailing. As with the previous white DualSense, both the D-pad and the buttons are clear plastic with matching color backing.

Both new color options were "inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos," which also helps to explain their galactic intro trailer.

“Both Midnight Black and Cosmic Red feature a subtle blue hue that produces unique shades of red and black," explained Satoshi Aoyagi of Sony's design team. "A blue hue is also present in the original DualSense wireless controller colors, so all three colors compliment each other nicely. The controller’s button colors and detailing has been tailored to complement the new colors as well."

All the same features from the original DualSense are present, such as the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Both are unique to Sony’s controller and offer an unparalleled level of immersion by changing the way the triggers behave and feel depending on what the player does in-game. There's also the new Share button that allows players to upload pics and video clips directly to social media sites.

Cosmic Red and Midnight Black DualSenses will become available starting next month. The exact timing will vary by location, so check your local retailer or order online like most of us.

So far, white, red, and black are the only official DualSense controllers you can get, but you can also find these unofficial DualSense controllers that pay homage to the PS1 and PS2 from Lazamods. They're a little more expensive than the usual DualSense, so keep that in mind if you're looking to expand your party-gaming capacity.
