The 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) took place this week and for the first time in the show's history was done completely online. Though the venue may have changed, it didn't stop some of the biggest names in tech from offering a preview of what this year will hold for electronics. One of the more exciting showcases came from Sony as it puts the spotlight on the "Future of Entertainment."

Earlier today, Sony launched the second episode of their two-part series, Sony@CES, on its YouTube page. The two videos offer a roundup of Sony's highlights from CES 2021. Episode 2, hosted by Jon Rettinger, takes a look at what Sony is calling the "future of entertainment" which includes new audio tech, enhanced visual technologies, and the PlayStation 5!

In the video, Rettinger frames all of the technologies being introduced with a single question: "How will these technologies redefine the way we live?" He then goes into the top reveals from Sony's showcase that makes up the "Future of Entertainment" which are 360 Reality Audio, PlayStation 5 Tech, and Bravia XR.

Sony introduced its 360 Reality Audio by showcasing a live performance from Zara Larsson. This performance was held in 360 Reality Audio that was available through the Artist Connection app. It is powered by Sony's spatial sound technology and allows listeners to experience audio completely around them, hence the 360 in the name. It is an entirely new way to hear things around you and the closest you can get to being at a concert without leaving your home.

Next, Sony highlighted the recently released PlayStation 5. With its ultra-high-speed SSD, integrated custom I/O, DualSense Wireless Controller, and 3D audio technology, it truly is the future of gaming. The system has already revolutionized gaming experiences and is creating a really diverse community of players all over the world.

Finally, Sony's new Bravia XR is the future of visual entertainment. Equipped with Cognitive Processor XR that delivers intelligence that reflects human cognitive characteristics, the Bravia XR screen detects the viewer's focal points and cross-analyzes numerous image quality elements to produce a picture that is more natural and closer to human memory. Plus, the television upscales sound to 5.1.2 channels which completely surrounds the viewer with realistic and immersive audio.

Clearly, Sony wasn't kidding when it announced the "Future of Entertainment." With the PlayStation 5, Bravia XR, and 360 Reality Audio, you won't simply play a video game or watch a movie, you will truly experience it!
