Sony has announced a new update to PlayStation's Remote Play app that is focused on making the lives of Android 12 users a bit easier. The update finally brings PS5 DualSense controller support to Android 12 devices, which Sony did for the iOS version of the Remote Play app earlier this year. There are also some upgrades for paired DualShock 4 controllers included.

Sony shared the news of the update for Android 12 users on Twitter, detailing what the controller-focused version of the app will offer. Of course, the biggest draw of this update is the ability to pair a DualSense controller and use it to play PlayStation 5 titles remotely. This feature will let Android users enjoy the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the DualSense as they play through a PS5 title on their mobile device. It is a welcome addition to the app which recently allowed for games to be streamed over mobile networks making the remote play feature even more useful.

The update also incorporates several upgrades for Android 12 users using a DualShock 4 controller to take advantage of remote play. According to Sony, the app will now let Android users take advantage of the controller’s touchpad, motion sensor, rumble, and battery indicator. While these features will only work for controllers paired to Android 12 devices, the controller is still compatible with previous generations of Android like 11 and 10.

As Sony prepared to launch the PS5 last year, the PS4 was quietly updated to include the Remote Play App. This allowed users to connect two consoles remotely and play PS5 games through the PS4. Why Sony kept this feature quiet is anyone’s guess, but Remote Play is surely becoming a favorite amongst PlayStation users.

If you haven’t tried out Remote Play, now is the perfect opportunity to do so. Sony is making it and mobile gaming a priority, so there has never been a better time to try it out.
