Back when the Supreme Court's plans to overturn Roe v Wade were revealed, several game studios came out in support of abortion rights. None of these studios belonged to Sony though, as Insomniac president Ted Price claimed Sony "will not approve" statements about reproductive rights. The company seemed to favor a more neutral stance, backed up by PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan who reportedly said in an internal email that employees should "respect differences of opinion" on abortion rights. However, with today's news that the Supreme Court's plan to overturn Roe v Wade has been realized, several studios under the PlayStation umbrella have released statements in support of abortion rights, including Sucker Punch, Santa Monica, Guerrilla Games, Media Molecule, Sony London Studios, Bend Studio, Naughty Dog, and Insomniac. Statements are being released in a steady stream, all of which are showing support for abortion rights, and more studios belonging to Sony could release similar statements over the course of the day.Related: Jim Ryan And Sony's Stance On Abortion Is As Disappointing As It Is PredictableThere's no telling why there seems to have been a shift in opinion within the company, especially given Ryan's controversial stance, but all of these studios releasing statements could indicate that internal pressure has forced Sony to change its opinion on approving public statements on these matters. There's also the possibility that all of these studios could be releasing statements without the approval of Sony itself, although it's unconfirmed as to whether this is the case.

Outside of the gaming industry, several other big companies have shown their support for abortion rights by offering to cover travel costs for employees seeking abortions outside of their own state. Disney, Netflix, and Amazon are just a few of the companies that have pledged to reimburse their employees' travel costs, although whether this will become an industry-wide policy remains to be seen. Still, it's better than nothing, and at least gives women who need abortions a safe option.
