Soul Calibur is the crazy brother in the fighting game family. Instead of going down the technical route or becoming beginner-friendly to appeal to the masses, Soul Calibur seems to have stayed the whacky course and let its freak flag fly.

Part of what keeps it firmly in the black sheep slot is its huge array of weapons. With all the weird and wonderful characters kicking around in the series, it really says something that the 2 main characters are weapons. With the hundreds of weapons throughout, only a few stand out as the front runners of the entire Soul Calibur series.

10 Soul Edge

Soul Edge is to all the characters in this series what '' The Ring'' was to Frodo Baggins.  It will give you all the power you need at the price of turning you into a madman, a price most characters in the series have paid.

Trying to use Soul Edge in battle takes a certain amount of bravery. As you use its incredible power it will drain your health and the only way to get it back is to attack your opponent. Meaning you'll have to throw defence aside in the name of survival, that is unless you use one of the rare characters Soul Edge doesn't drain.

9 Queens Guard

While it might be the snobbiest weapon in the game, it definitely lives up to its name. Queens Guard is an heirloom passed down through the generations, cursing its owner to defend their master at all costs.

It's not the scariest weapon but in the hands of a skilled swordsman it deals out big damage. using its huge range it becomes more of a lance than a sword. Thrusting attacks is the way to victory and its owner, Raphael, is the king of that.

8 Terpsichore

This is a prime example of style over function. A pair of tambourines that hold more power than most swords. Believable? No. Functional? Apparently.

Terpsichore has the advantage of being used by a particularly nimble fighter that offsets the lack of range. It's also got a good 1,2 setup of boosting your attack then giving you the health you take away from your opponent. Perks so good any smart warrior would gladly turn in his sword for them.

7 Iron Ram

A pair of large spikes that attach to either hand, painful looking, to say the least. What more is to be expected from the weird but wonderful Voldo? There's only so much a twisted guard/dungeon master can do.

These heavy hitters are a little clunkier than the usual weapon were used to seeing with our disturbing friend. It's easy to see why you'd use them when they hit though, dealing big damage is a quick way to make you forget about the extra effort these bad boys require.

6 Nanbanfu

In the world of giant weapons, only a few stand out above the rest. Nanbanfu is the most powerful weapon of Soul Calibur's original bad guy, Asteroph. It's a perfect fit for the ''Bane'' of the series and deals just as much damage as it looks like it should.

While everyone loves to look at the hulky weapon, very few choose to use it. Luckily this weapon has an extended range so when your cumbersome and swinging the axe around it will be difficult to get out of its way. All that mass coming down on your enemy is sure to end the fight.

5 Han Guang

legendary swords often look the gaudiest, gold everywhere and so much to look at it becomes a distraction, Well, not with Han Guang. In fact, all you can see is the handle, great for combat but not so much for the boastful among us.

The upside to not being able to see the sword is your opponent can never tell whether your close or not. Add that to the fact Han Guang is incredibly long and you have the perfect sneak attack.

4 Blonde

A sword blessed by a goddess, What more can you ask for? While it doesn't have anything wild to offering he forms of looks, Alondite manages to pull out some of the best boosts and perks in the series.

While it boosts your attack dramatically and had always what everyone looks for, Alondite regenerates your health too. It also dodges some throws for you so you have more focus on swinging it into the side of your opponent.

3 Basho Fan

When you're thinking of the most powerful weapons usually fan doesn't come to mind. in this case, you would be mistaken, the basho fan although not intimidating is an incredible boost to all those who hold it.

The best thing is that the longer you hold the fan in battle, the stronger it gets. Not to mention it already increases your attack and defence greatly. it might have the best range but when it does hit, it hits hard.

2 Soul Calibur

The namesake of the entire series and the answer to Soul Edges reign of terror. Made from the purified pieces leftover from Soul Edge, Soul Calibur has protected many warriors that would have fallen into the Soul Edge trap.

Giving you the biggest attack boost in the game, Soul Calibur certainly pulls the temptation away from its brother blade. Without all that health draining too, in fact, it regenerates health when needed, Unfortunately, not everyone can use its power, only the pure of intentions.

1 Wayakin

Some weapons like to hide their true power, revealing it only when needed. Not Wayakin, much like its carrier this weapon is as obviously powerful as a weapon can be. being carried by a huge barbarian wearing animal skin doesn't help either.

it may not be the most elegant weapon around, but it does its job perfectly well. Heaving a great mace around was never going to be the fastest way to attack but not many get out of its way. it also has the added ability to boost all your stats for short bursts to really crush the enemy.
