The dread undead pirate Cervantes is coming to Soulcalibur VI...Bandai Namco just doesn't want us to know that yet. The company's official Twitter dropped the news yesterday only to pull it soon after. No reason was given, but it seems that the announcement was made prematurely. But fans being fans, the video has already been preserved and is making the rounds, whether Bandai Namco likes it or not.

As the footage shows, Cervantes' trademark aggressive fighting style is intact. There's plenty of spins, stabs, and shots. He's also wielding his usual Acheron and Nirvana dual swords in a style called the "Memories of Soul Edge." That, and his title of "The Shell of a Proud Man," make it clear that is is Cervantes as we've always known him, the cruel pirate who turned into a zombie from his obsession over a cursed sword.

Cervantes is a veteran of Soulcalibur, so his inclusion is hardly a surprise. Then again, fans of the series were surprised (and more than a little upset) to hear that popular character Tira was being relegated to pre-order DLC status. And with the game a month away and the starting roster not even fully revealed, fans are eagerly awaiting each new announcement.

As if to answer them, Eurogamer found some more leaks. They shared a video showing Cervantes in action against Raphael, the rapier-wielding vampire.

What's interesting about this footage is that it seems to be taken from some sort of public event. Which makes it all the more odd for Bandai Namco to be so concerned about the timing of its reveals. If the game is already being showed to the public, things are going to be leaked. Case in point this exact video.

Leaks or no, Soulcalibur VI is shaping up to be another solid entry in the series. The only concern is the season pass and DLC character business, of which Tira is already a casualty. Rosters can make or a break a fighting game, especially one with such a rich legacy as Soulcalibur, so the next few reveals, however we get them, are going to be important.

Soulcalibur VI comes out October 19th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
