Spider-Man 2 has finally shown off gameplay footage, revealing Wraith, showing Peter Parker's symbiote abilities, placeable web lines, the option to swap to Miles Morales, and the new wingsuit abilities. Ganke even has a Vulture drone to help Miles out in the field, meanwhile, Peter is busy with gooey tendrils and an edgy voice to match. Clearly, the alien suit is getting to him.

The trailer opens with a shot of Kraven in the woods, finally giving us our first look at the hunter. His whole shtick is that he wants to hunt the most dangerous game, with Spider-Man being the biggest threat. Especially now that Peter has his "new threads", those being a living organism.

While we knew we'd be fighting Kraven and Venom, the trailer also shows off Lizard, who was revealed to exist in the game's world back in the first outing. After we first see Lizard, the trailer pans to a gameplay segment in which Peter and Miles chase a patrol of villainous speedboats, seemingly under Kraven's command as he peers out of a helicopter at them. He isn't just hunting one Spidey, he's got two to tangle with. Lizard later returns chasing Miles in the water in an on-a-rails segment.

However, the new trailer still doesn't give us a date, but it does finally confirm the leaks and rumours that it's launching in Fall 2023.

Spider-Man 2 has been a long time coming. It was revealed in the last showcase back in 2021 with a 1:37 teaser, though that didn't show us gameplay and instead focused on the most basic of story beats. We knew Kraven and Venom would be villains in some fashion, while Miles Morales and Peter Parker would of course be returning as the titular Spider-Men. The lack of updates even became a meme among the community as the same image was plastered everywhere. Luckily, we have much more to use now, so you shouldn't see Miles and Peter looking wide-eyed past the camera ad nauseam anymore. But hey, maybe we'll feel nostalgic for it in a few years.

There was also some recent confusion about how the game would play after Miles Morales actor Nadji Jeter claimed that it would be co-op. A fan asked him and he replied, "I don't know if it's been announced or not, but I think so". Insomniac immediately clarified that no, it's not, and is instead an "epic single-player adventure". So, if you were hoping to team up with a close pal to fight back against a villainous symbiote and overzealous hunter, this isn't the game for it. There's always Ultimate Alliance though, eh?
