The upcoming sequel to 2018's Spider-Man has officially been revealed, and from the sound of it, you won't be playing as Peter Parker this time around. Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be launching as a PS5 exclusive, and it'll be out before the end of 2020.

The game's trailer was revealed during the PS5 reveal event and contained a short cinematic of Miles and his black Spider-Man suit in action. Although no gameplay was shown, we're confident that the game will be a blast based on just how well the first title was executed.

Although we anticipated a Spider-Man sequel on the PS5, the fact that it will mostly feature Miles Morales is quite the surprise. He served as the main character in the 2018 hit animated movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but this will be the first time that a Spidey game will feature someone other than Peter Park in the lead role.

This announcement also raises a handful of questions as to how the game's story will be handled. Will Peter Parker be a playable character, or will he meet a fate similar to the one he saw in Spider-Verse? Peter's friend, Harry Osbourne, was teased as Venom towards the end of the first game, so it will be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out as well.

Either way, the first Spider-Man was one of the top games to hit the PS4, and helped to cement the console's exclusive catalog as the best out there. The sequel will likely do the same for the PS5, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales is easily the most anticipated title for many gamers who hope to pick the console up when it releases.

On top of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the PS5 event also announced the release of a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel, named Horizon Forbidden West, as well as a new Rachet & Clank game, Resident Evil 8, and a handful other new games. Still, it's hard not to be most excited about the new Spidey title, especially considering it's expected launch alongside the PS5 this holiday season.
