Insomniac's Spider-Man was a smash hit that not only sold a lot of copies and won the hearts of fans but it also gave Marvel their very own Arkham Asylum - a kickstart to a brand new era of gaming for the comics company.

It brought Dan Slott's tenure to life like no other Spider-Man property has but there's a lot that people may have missed when swinging through the streets of New York City. Luckily, we're here to fill you in on ten things that you may not know about Marvel's Spider-Man.

10 Insomniac's Spider-Man Appeared In The Comics

Not only does he have a comic run and a prequel novel, but Insomniac's Spider-Man even crossed over with the denizens of the Spider-Verse in Spider-Geddon. On the cover as pictured above, he can be seen with Spider-Gwen and Spider-Man Noir, who you may know from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

His suit was also teased in Spider-Man: Far From Home when Tom Holland's Peter Parker was designing his own costume to the beat of Led Zeppelin, Iron Man's favorite band.

9 There's A Picture Of Uncle Ben at F.E.A.S.T.

Naturally, with Marvel's Spider-Man not being yet another origin story, a lot of the beats were skipped, such as Gwen's death (which is teased) and Uncle Ben's unfortunate demise that acted as Peter's catalyst for being a hero.

Peter's in an established world and he's already had his fair share of fights. However, Ben is not absent from the game and we're not talking about his tombstone. There's actually a photo of him in the F.E.A.S.T. center with a young Peter Parker.

8 Rhino's Voice Actor Worked On Previous Games

Rhino was a somewhat intimidating foe in Marvel's Spider-Man and they went down the TASM2 route of giving him a super-suit rather than his corny appearance of the comics. However, this wasn't the debut for Fred Tatasciote as Rhino as he has voiced the character before.

In 2008, he lent his voice to the brutish villain in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and a whopping half-a-decade later, he came back for The Amazing Spider-Man which was based on Andrew Garfield's debut film.

7 J. Jonah. Jameson Referenced Sandman

A lot of villains were teased that didn't show up in person, like Lizard at the fancy dress party, indicating that, at some point in his established past, Insomniac's Spider-Man had beaten these goons into a cushy prison sentence.

Sandman was one of these villains, being name-dropped on J. Jonah. Jameson's show, Just The Facts. With how many of these there are and how easily they can be interrupted, this is one reference from Jonah that you may not have caught.

6 Peter Referenced The Symbiote Suit

Spider-Man Web of Shadows Symbiote Suit

With the reveal of Harry Osborn in a tank with a Symbiote at the end of Marvel's Spider-Man, it's safe to say that any hints at a Venom-rich past in Marvel's video-game universe are likely far more than just nods.

When talking to Yuri, Peter revealed that he had tried the black look before, indicating that, at some point in his past, he had an encounter with the Symbiote. Whether that means Eddie Brock and Venom is unsure but it is incredibly likely. Nonetheless, it's clear that Peter has had and abandoned the Symbiote known as Venom.

5 Peter Mentioned Flash Thompson At F.E.A.S.T.

When exploring the F.E.A.S.T. building, Peter tends to make references or elaborate on things that he sees. Parker being a narrator is a fun concept that was explored in many cartoons, the Raimi films, and even the Watts movies.

One of these mentions is to Flash Thompson who Peter claims is helping veterans which is a far cry from bullying scrawny geeks. With the tease at Venom and Harry's condition, could we see Agent Venom pop up down the line? One can only dream.

4 Jameson Jr. Appeared In The Social Feed

That little social feed that you can scroll through is a bit of a nightmarish headache as there is a lot to sift through and so it is the perfect place to slap an easter egg or two in and that is exactly what Insomniac did.

Jameson's son, who in the comics becomes Man-Wolf, leaves a post for dear old dad, confirming his presence in-universe. It was to be expected but having solid proof is nice. Whether he actually gets a role, if his father even gets a larger one, has yet to be seen.

3 Morbius Had A Cameo

You meet a doctor in Marvel's Spider-Man who goes by the name Morgan Michaels. For the uninitiated, Morbius the Living Vampire has undergone that alias before but his true name is Michael Morbius.

With a sequel, Insomniac could implement a side story that delves into Morgan Michaels becoming Morbius which would be perfect following the character's exposure through Jared Leto's film.

2 Goblin Grenade Prototypes Can Be Found At Oscorp

Norman Osborn has to become Green Goblin at some point - it's his destiny, no matter the universe that he occupies. Insomniac seems to know this as they have left a trail of evidence hinting at his future transformation.

It's obscure, but in Oscorp HQ, you can find a bundle of Oscorp grenades on a desk that are absolutely prototypes for future Goblin grenades. Paint these orange and give them a little jack-o-lantern flair and they'll be ready for the glider-donning psychopath with a vengeance.

1 On A Wall At F.E.A.S.T., There Are Pictures Of The Devs

A good rule of thumb when you see pictures of real people in video-games is to assume that they are the developers sneakily injecting themselves into their work much as many directors, producers, and writers hide into film and TV in the form of cameos.

Insomniac is no different, as the 'Volunteer of the Week' wall at F.E.A.S.T. has a whole host of game developers pictured. These are talented individuals who helped bring Dan Slott's comics to life in the form of Marvel's Spider-Man on the PS4.
