Update: Bryan Intihar, Creative Director at Insomniac Games, shared this statement on Twitter concerning the new face for Peter Parker.

Spider-Man Remastered will feature a completely redone version of Peter Parker. In contrast to multiple other tweaks and improvements developer Insomniac is making to the original 2018 title, this decision has fans asking why it was made in the first place.

In a blog post detailing the changes coming to the remastered version of Spider-Man, which will come bundled with Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, Sony showed off one of the game's biggest changes, a completely redesigned look for Peter Parker.

"In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life."

Some fans have suggested Ben Jordan's new look for Peter Parker is Insomniac wanting someone who looks more like the MCU's own Spider-Man, Tom Holland. Others think the model looks much too young for a character who's supposed to be in his mid-twenties. Most are wondering why there needed to be a new face in the first place.

In addition to a graphics overhaul, Spider-Man Remastered will include new suits and gadgets for players to get their hands on and will be available for the launch of the PS5 on November 12.
