With all the Spider-Man: No Way Home theories flying around, it came with little surprise that the webslinger also made his way into Fortnite. Chapter 3 saw a lot of changes occuring in the game's universe, including the island flipping and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealing himself as The Foundation. The new season also included the addition of Spider-Man's web swinging mechanics.

In fact, the battle royale's version of Spidey actually has some fun swinging and sliding mechanics. Sure, it can't be compared to Insomniac's triple-A game, but it's still miles ahead of the swinging mechanics of Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers. Social media and discussion threads were filled with videos and comments about how surprised players were at the mechanic's quality. They're in for another treat, as Spidey's web shooters will now be available at certain locations on the island.

As cool as it would be to swing around the island in the iconic red and blue costume, players will no doubt want to go back to the skins and cosmetics they worked hard or paid to unlock. With the specialised web shooters now available on their own, you'll be able to swing like the webslinger no matter what skin your character is wearing.

Besides swinginging and zipping around, the web shooters also give players the ability to latch onto the rear end of vehicles and web-surf across the map. This mechanic isn't even present in Insomniac's games, leading to some fans asking the devs to introduce it. The item can be found in a number of locations across the map; players should notably look for backpacks webbed onto walls.

2021 truly has been the Year of the Spider. Not only do we have the highly speculated Spider-Man: No Way Home set to launch in a few days, but we also got the announcement trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. On the video game side of things, Marvel's Avengers finally received its long awaited Spider-Man DLC; while the new character didn't add much to the game overall, fans were happy with the freshness it brought to the gameplay. Earlier this year, we also learned that Insomniac is working on Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with Venom as the villain.
