Insomniac's two new Marvel games will both be PS5 exclusives, while God Of War: Ragnarok will also be available on PS4.

Thursday night's PlayStation Showcase was jam-packed with big reveals and announcements. God Of War: Ragnarok finally got the trailer we've all been waiting for, Insomniac revealed it's working on not one, but two Marvel games, and GTA 5's enhanced and expanded edition was shown off a little more and pushed back until March 2022. Okay, not everything was a home run.

The trailers can only reveal so much, of course, and some of the studios behind the game shown off last night have revealed more details since. Insomniac, for instance, revealed in the tweet below that both Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine will be PS5 exclusives. The games will not get PS4 versions. Unsurprising considering Spider-Man 2 won't be here until 2023, and Wolverine is probably at least a year away at best.

Ragnarok obviously has a much longer trailer and will almost definitely be here before Wolverine. That means the much-anticipated sequel is also coming to PS4 as well as PS5. Good news for anyone still struggling to get their hands on a next-gen console. Despite Sony already selling more than 10 million PS5s, that's probably still a lot of people as shortages are now predicted to extend into 2023.

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan did promise very early on during the PS5's lifecycle that it will be a long time before the PS4 is left behind. Not only will Ragnarok be coming to the last-gen console in 2022, but Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West will too. It may be a decision Insomniac has made to skip the PS4 for any new games from now on, as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was also a PS5 exclusive.

In Insomniac's defense, if you have played Rift Apart then it's pretty evident that the game simply wouldn't have worked on a PS4. There's a reason it's a game of the year contender and had the studio held back to make it cross-gen than that may not have been the case. Perhaps Insomniac is being just as ambitious with Wolverine and Spider-Man 2, and its final PS4 game will have been Miles Morales.
