A recent update for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is looking to make the game more realistic. According to Insomniac, Patch 1.10 makes improvements to ray-traced reflection quality when the PS5 title is played in Performance RT graphics mode. This is the first big update to the game in a few months and fixes a few issues with stability and motion.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales released as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 in November of last year. A month later, Insomniac added the Performance RT graphics mode that allows the game to be played at 60fps with Ray Tracing. This new graphics mode joined the previously available Performance and Fidelity modes. In Performance mode, players could swing through the streets in 4K at 60fps while Fidelity mode prioritized graphics over performance with 4K running at only 30 fps.

Now, Insomniac is working to improve the Ray Traced reflections within Miles Morales. This emphasis on graphics is likely due to the recent praise insomniac received for the visuals in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The attention to detail and gorgeous Ray Traced reflections in Rift Apart were one of the first examples of the PlayStation 5’s performance power and seems to be setting a precedent for how Insomniac is approaching graphics and visuals.

This new update is the first in three months for the title. The previous update, Patch 1.09, was released back in April and added the Advanced Tech Suit to the game along with general fixes and improvements. It also added ZivaRT support to many of the game’s suits, which dramatically improves muscle deformation to offer a more realistic look to Miles in the suit. While that update was available across both the PS4 and PS5 version of the game, this newest update is solely for the PS5 edition.

Along with improvements to Ray Tracing, Patch 1.10 offers some general fixes. According to Insomniac’s support page, the patch also offers “Global stability fixes and performance improvements”, along with a fix for “an issue with motion blur on certain pedestrians”.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales has proven to be a headline title for Sony, outselling popular titles like Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II. Recently, the game climbed to the top of the UK charts, beating out newer titles despite having been out for several months.
