It can't be easy being one of the most popular idols in the world of Splatoon. Between hosting daily segments on the local news and organizing epic Splatfest events, it must be hard to find the time to simply relax and rest up before the next show.

Though it's never revealed in the games, it feels safe to assume that all the idols have a place to call home between sets. It would be amazing to share accommodation with one of the biggest stars in the world of Splatoon, but each idol has a larger-than-life personality and quirks that could clash with your ideal living situation. From the Squid Sisters to Deep Cut, each idol would be an interesting roommate, but some would certainly be more fun to live with than others.

7 Pearl

Pearl dances on stage during a Splatfest

Pearl is easily one of the coolest idols in Splatoon. Her personality is one of the strongest despite her size and her rapping skills are, well, off the hook. Pearl's tough demeanor and sarcasm work together to create one Inkling you don't want to face off against in either a turf war or rap battle.

As great as it would be to hang out with Pearl, it's hard to imagine having a great time living with her. She is known as the "club destroyer" because her voice is powerful enough to create shockwaves that can demolish buildings and more. Pearl would be the kind of roommate that blares music from their room at 3 AM and turns it up louder after you politely ask for silence.

6 Big Man

Big Man smiles while he takes off his mask

Big Man is one of the members of Deep Cut and the first male idol to appear in Splatoon. He is a manta ray of few words and only responds with "ay" followed by a brief subtitle of what he is actually trying to say. This lovable giant seems like he would be a blast at parties, but not so much as a roommate.

Unfortunately, the language barrier would be a major issue. It would be nearly impossible to choose a movie to watch together or food to order in. You could ask Big Man if he was in the mood for Blade Runner, Finding Nemo, or Little Miss Sunshine, and he would just say "ay", putting all the pressure on you to make the vital decision. Big Man also seems like the kind of roommate that would eat your food without asking, and that's always a deal-breaker.

5 Marie

Marie stands under an umbrella at the entrance to the Splatoon campaign

Marie is one of the original idols, appearing alongside her cousin Callie in Splatoon for the Wii U. She is the more reserved and shy of the two, but that doesn't mean she isn't capable of being a bit sassy at times. Marie is incredibly supportive during the Splatoon 2 campaign and has great one-liners, but a few things about her personality might make it difficult to live with her.

First, Marie is known for being kind of lazy and probably wouldn't do her fair share of work around the house. Though we have seen her come out of her shell during climactic moments in both of the Splatoon campaigns, it also seems like it would be hard to convince Marie to do anything fun, ever. It's nice to have someone to relax with, but not as much if they don't have the motivation to do much else.

4 Shiver

Shiver grins while removing their mask

Another member of Deep Cut, Shiver is the second Octoling idol after Marina made her debut in Splatoon 2. She is another effortlessly cool host of both the local news and Splatfests and has already won over many fans with her confidence and style.

The biggest issue about being roommates with Shiver is that she just might be too cool to bother spending much time with you. She seems like she would be too busy working on solo art projects in her room and attending parties will other equally intimidating Inklings and Octolings. Even sharks call her cold-blooded, so it might be best to just let her do her own thing and find someone else to share rent with.

3 Callie

Callie is the second half of the infamous Squid Sisters and unlike Marie, has an incredibly outgoing personality and optimistic perspective on life. She is very supportive of her bashful cousin and was also an amazing cheerleader during your time in the original Splatoon campaign.

Callie's life always seems like a party, and it's hard to imagine a dull moment with her around. Her positive outlook and never-ending energy would be a blast to be around, but maybe not for a long time. Callie seems like the kind of roommate that would bring you to an event or party every night, and that can certainly get exhausting after a while.

2 Frye

Frye winks towards the camera after her debut

The final member of Deep Cut is Frye, another Inkling host with a fiery personality and positive attitude that seems to never expire. Because Frye is one of the newer hosts, we don't know that much about her yet, but from what we've seen so far, she seems like a fun character with relentless energy and motivation.

Frye seems to encapsulate all the good things about the previous idols on this list without any of the negative parts. Fun to hang out with, down-to-earth, energetic enough to help around the house, etc. Not to mention with a name like Frye, it's safe to assume that she can cook a meal worth fighting in a Turf War for.

1 Marina

Marina waves to the crowd during a Splatfest

Marina is the other member of Off the Hook alongside Pearl and the first Octoling idol introduced in the series. Unlike her co-host, Marina is more introverted and timid on the surface, but that's mostly because some citizens of Inkopolis don't know she isn't an Inkling. Throughout both the Splatoon 2 campaign and the Octo Expansion, Marina reveals a lot more about her personality and proves that she would make the ideal roommate.

Marina is the most intelligent idol we have seen so far, and she would be amazing at figuring out house issues like why the fire alarm won't stop beeping or how to set up the Alexa properly. While she is shy like Marie, Marina seems much more inclined to open up to people — or squids — once she gets to know them better. She would be great to chill with, would give you space when you need it, and is always down for a Splatfest. What more could you want from a roommate?
