One of the most recognizable features in the Splatoon series, aside from its ink-based combat and its colorful, post-apocalyptic world, is its characters. The cast of the Splatoon games is made up of sea creatures that have evolved to the point of becoming bipedal (plus one cat and his clone).

If you have played the story missions or the Octo Expansion, you will know that there are a lot of characters to love in Splatoon — from squids to octopuses, to shrimp. But which of these wonderful characters would you like on your Turf War team?

10 Turf War With Agent 3

Agent 3 and Agent 8 from Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion

You would have never guessed that the main character from the first Splatoon game, released on the Wii U, would become such a legend. But here we are now. Agent 3 was originally recruited by Cap’n Cuttlefish to help rescue the Great Zapfish alongside Agent 1 and Agent 2 (later revealed to be the Squid Sisters).

However, it is revealed in Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion that Agent 3 is no longer the new squid on the block. In their fight against Agent 8, Agent 3 is shown to be able to perform multiple specials in a row thanks to them turning off their limiter. Having them on your Turf War team means you can utilize as many special weapons as you want. Not to mention it would be fun to team up with your first Splatoon self-insert.

9 Max Out Abilities With Crusty Sean

Crusty Sean from Splatoon 2 (2:1 size)

Crusty Sean is the former owner of Shrimp Kicks in Splatoon, the former owner of the Crust Bucket in Splatoon 2, and is traveling the world in Splatoon 3. He is an entrepreneur who has dabbled in all sorts of careers. He also wears multiple pairs of shoes, which in the world of Splatoon means he is equipped with multiple abilities.

With Crusty Sean’s abilities, he can support you by swimming, splatting, dodging, and respawning faster than the average Inkling. Plus, he also wears a hat. That’s one more ability for the team!

8 Dance With Big Man

Big Man, dancing, from Splatoon 3

Big Man is one of the co-hosts from Deep Cut in Splatoon 3. He is a bipedal manta ray who sings, dances, and announces the news. He towers above his two other hosts, Shiver and Frye, and generally seems like a pretty chill sea creature. By now, you know that Inklings and Octolings like participating in Turf Wars, but what about manta rays? Who wouldn’t want to see Big Man gliding around stages and splatting down his opponents?

Additionally, can you imagine how cool he would look with a main weapon? Big Man with the Splattershot? Big Man with the Carbon Roller? Big Man with a Splatana? You know you want to see it.

7 Know The Battlefield With Judd The Cat

Judd the Cat, from Splatoon and Splatoon 2, announcing Turf War Winner in Splatoon

Judd is a cat who oversees the Turf Wars. He understands the rules of the game and is a fair judge in calculating the total area splatted. Having such a powerful figure on your Turf War team would mean having a tactical advantage.

Of course, Judd is an impartial judge, so you cannot ask him to cheat for you. However, you can have him tell you where the best places are to ink on the stages. Plus, like Big Man, who wouldn’t want to see this cat in action? Judd using Inkjet and splatting ink from above? A-meow-zing!

6 Gear Up With Sheldon

Sheldon from Splatoon 3

Sheldon is your weapons guy. Or, the weapons horseshoe crab. If you need a new weapon, Ammo Knights is where you can go to grab Rollers, Chargers, and everything in between. Sheldon’s been a helpful presence in all the Splatoon games, but we never see him participate in any Turf Wars.

If he did though, he would have the most powerful combinations of weapons, special weapons, and sub-weapons in his arsenal. Sheldon also knows how to drive, so if you need to get to the other side of the stage, he can probably give you a lift.

5 Is That A Bear?

Grizzco Industries Logo from Splatoon 2

Mr. Grizz is your boss when you choose to work part-time at Grizzco Industries. He is in charge of the Salmon Run, and he speaks through a bear statue with a radio antenna poking out of it. But what is he? Is he truly an animated statue, or is he an actual bear? Maybe he's neither.

We don't know for sure, but we do know that he has enough funds to run Grizzco Industries. And with that much money, he can pay for your team's weapons, gear, and other necessities. Plus, if he really is a bear, he would be a powerful member of your Inkling-Octoling team. After all, who do you think would win: a bear or a squid?

4 Sing With The Squid Sisters

Squid Sisters and Agent 3 from Splatoon 3

The Squid Sisters are a pop idol group who not only sing catchy songs but are also secret agents who ensure the upkeep of peace in the world of Splatoon. That’s why having one of them is perfect for Turf War battles.

With all their secret agent talents, they are sure to be the sneakiest players on the team. We already know from Splatoon 2 that Marie is a great shot with the Hero Charger and Callie is a formidable final boss to go up against. Imagine how fast victory would come if one of them was on your Turf War team!

3 Yell With Pearl

Pearl from Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion

Pearl is one of the members of Off the Hook, and whose Princess Cannon and Killer Wail once saved Inkopolis. Her voice is a powerful weapon and one that can help you during Turf Wars.

In fact, in the final Splatoon 2 Turf War, she came onto the last Shifty Stage and used her special weapon against the opponent. Imagine her doing that for regular Turf Wars! Not to mention that she can boost the morale of the team with her entertaining commentary and her fun raps.

2 Counterattack With Marina

Marina from Splatoon 2 and Octo Expansion

Marina is the other member of Off the Hook. Alongside Pearl, she hosts the Inkopolis News and performs music during Splatoon 2’s Splatfests. Oh, and she is also an Octoling who defected from her position as a combat engineer in the Octarian Army.

During Splatoon 2’s Splatfests, Marina created Shifty Stations, which were battlefields that held unique mechanics not found in regular stages. Her former training and her tech skills could help you during Turf Wars. With her combat, engineering, and amazing hacking skills, Marina can turn any losing team into a winner!

1 Another Legend, Agent 8

Agent 8 from Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion

The protagonist of the Octo Expansion DLC from Splatoon 2, all Agent 8 wanted was to get to the surface and experience the life that Inkopolis had to offer. By completing the DLC, their wish is fulfilled, and they gain access to the world of Inklings.

However, like how Agent 3 became a famous figure in the lore of Splatoon, Agent 8 is probably another legend you would want on your Turf War team. Their time in the Deepsea Metro has taught them a lot of skills and, once they get all their memories back, their training as a member of the Octarian Army would make them a worthy ally.
