Amazon Games has announced that Alexandre Parizeau – former senior producer on Splinter and Rainbow Six Vegas – will be leading its studio in Montreal. Parizeau brings more than 20 years of games experience to the team and will lead development on a new competitive multiplayer game.

Amazon says the Montreal studio will focus on "creating original AAA games," and the upcoming multiplayer IP will be the team's first project. It's unclear exactly what genre the game will slot into, but with a team that has previous experience on both Rainbow Six Vegas and Rainbow Six Siege, it's not much of a jump to assume it'll be an FPS.

“Alex has a long track record of building talented teams and successful games, and is a perfect fit for what we aspire to create at our new studio in Montreal,” Christoph Hartmann, VP at Amazon Games, said. “He managed the development teams behind major franchises during his time at Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto, and he instantly clicked with our team’s vision and creative leads, some of which he worked with previously at Ubisoft. Alex will continue assembling an outstanding team in Montreal, and we’re looking forward to sharing more on what they’re creating when the time is right.”

Of course, we'll hold out hope that the game takes some design cues from Splinter Cell, as the stealth genre has gone far too long without an asymmetrical multiplayer game like Chaos Theory. Expect to learn more in the coming months as development gets underway and Amazon begins its marketing push.

For now, we can look forward to New World and Lost Ark – two upcoming games in the Amazon portfolio.
