E3 2019 is already wrapping up, and there have been tons of exciting announcements. Square Enix hosted its own presentation, where the company talked about the upcoming Final Fantasy VII RemakeFinal Fantasy VIII Remastered, and the long-awaited Marvel's Avengers.

After being announced years ago, Marvel's Avengers is finally close to release, and we got to see what the game would look like and how it would play. The reaction from the internet has been a bit mixed so far for various reasons, but we're here to dive into it and explain why it looks quite good. Here are 10 reasons to be excited for Square Enix's Marvel Avengers game.

10 FAMILIAR ROSTER

Marvel's Avengers showed off the roster of heroes we could play as in the game. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow will be the playable characters in the game. Save for Hawkeye, this is the roster that we saw in The Avengers back in 2012.

This could be a starting point for the games in many ways, as it experiments with these few heroes. Further down the line, it's possible that there could be more Avengers added. Either way, this is a good starting lineup that ensures each character will have their own quirks and unique gameplay from the rest.

9 POSSIBLE SPIDER-MAN TIES

While talking about Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix confirmed that the PS4 version would have some sort of exclusive content. The company didn't delve into what that content would be, but we have a pretty good guess. Considering Insomniac's Spider-Man released not too long ago and turned out to be one of the best Marvel games ever made, it would make sense to try and tie that game in with Marvel Avengers. There is already a great framework built for Spider-Man in video games, so it would be a natural fit for Square to transfer that character over to fight with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

8 STELLAR VISUALS

Graphics don't necessarily make or break a game, but there's no denying that Marvel's Avengers looked good. The trailer was more cinematic rather than raw gameplay, but Square did confirm that the trailer was created using the game's graphics engine. Needless to say, the details on each character, the look of each impressive power, and everything else were on point. A massive, AAA game featuring the Avengers hasn't really been done, so it's nice to see that the game looks as good as it does. Considering its releasing near the tail end of the PS4 and Xbox One's life cycles, the developers will know how to best take advantage of the hardware at that point.

7 ORIGINAL STORY

In the trailer for Marvel's Avengers, we got a few details about the story. It seemed that, during a battle, Captain America lost his life, leaving the Avengers in a broken state. There wasn't much to glean outside of that, but it certainly caught our attention. Square also confirmed that the game would feature its own original story, and wouldn't directly take from any of the comics or the MCU movies. This ensures that those playing the game will be surprised as to the outcome. It also puts it in line with Spider-Man on the PS4, which also featured its own original story.

6 EXPERIENCED VOICE ACTORS

While it's a shame to many that the MCU versions of the Avengers won't be featured in the game, there is still some great talent behind Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Marvel's Avengers. Big names like Troy Baker (The Last of UsUncharted: A Thief's End), Nolan North (Assassin's CreedDestiny), and Laura Bailey (Fire Emblem: AwakeningThe Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimSpider-Man) are all appearing to voice some of the Avengers. This all but confirms that those characters will have great performances across the board, leading to well-acted heroes on the same lines of a game like Injustice: Gods Among Us.

5 COOPERATIVE PLAY

Many games aren't quite as fun without friends to back you up. Marvel's Avengers has you covered in that department. Because the game focuses on a team of superheroes, it was built with cooperative play in mind. Players will take control of one of the five Avengers and move through levels together. It'll be fascinating to see how Crystal Dynamics designed levels with multiple characters and play styles in mind. It will be a challenging feat that, if pulled off well, could be one of the best co-op games ever made. It also helps keep the spirit of the Avengers alive and works better for the tone of the game.

4 SINGLE-PLAYER DESIGN

The problem with a lot of cooperative games is that they include single-player modes, but they most certainly weren't designed with it in mind. Marvel's Avengers isn't going that route, seemingly opting for a wider approach. With levels designed for multiple characters at once, the game is not only great for cooperative play, but it can also easily be played by one person. Those who would rather experience the game themselves can enjoy it without having to worry about any frustrating design decisions or (hopefully) having to constantly swap between characters to make sure they're all moving at the same pace.

3 WEST COAST AVENGERS

While Marvel's Avengers is set to have its own original story, it seems to be drawing inspiration from a few familiar sources. The team begins the trailer in San Francisco, where they're trying to launch the West Coast Avengers. Things go awry, which lead to the grim events we see later in the footage.

What's exciting about the team being on the west coast is that it seems that the inspiration will be different from most Avengers stories. The West Coast Avengers haven't had time in the spotlight. While that still may not be the case, we'd be surprised if there weren't tons of easter eggs about the team.

2 ONGOING SUPPORT

Square Enix seems to have confidence in Marvel's Avengers. The company said that it would be supporting the game for quite a while after launch, constantly delivering new content and updates to ensure that players are given something fresh to enjoy. While this could concern some people considering how games like Destiny and Anthem were treated, Square has more on its shoulders to get this game right. With such a popular IP like the Avengers, Square at least has to ensure that the game we get in our hands on release day is complete from start to finish. At that point, adding more content will just be like going to a buffet and never having to stop.

1 CRYSTAL DYNAMICS

Square Enix might be the company publishing Marvel Avengers, but it isn't the one developing it. That honor goes to Crystal Dynamics. This development team has done quite a good job over the years and is responsible for the Gex franchise as well as the Tomb Raider reboot. Crystal Dynamics has a lot of experience in the games industry, so it's safe to say that it will bring its A-game to Marvel's Avengers. The developer already knows how to work with great graphics and knows how to design a big, AAA title. We have good faith that this studio will deliver on a mighty game that's worthy of Marvel fans everywhere.
