Square Enix's Left Alive Gets New Trailers And March 2019 Release Date

We now have a little more insight into Square Enix’s upcoming mech survival-action shooter, Left Alive.

Yesterday, two new cinematic trailers were posted to the game’s YouTube page, accompanied by the announcement of its release date of March 9, 2019. As of current, the game will be available for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam.

In Left Alive, players will take control of three protagonists fighting for survival in the war-torn nation of Novo Slava; a tiny nation within the world-at-war conflict in the year 2127. The game’s lead creators create an impressive collective resume, featuring the talents of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Xenoblade Chronicles X mech designer, Takayuki Yanase; Armored Core series director, Toshifumi Nabeshima; and Yoji Shinkawa, character designer for the Metal Gear series.

Not much has been revealed in terms of actual gameplay footage, but from the trailers, the team’s creative influence is clear in the way of the game’s overarching design. It essentially looks like Metal Gear meets Armored Core meets Xenoblade Chronicles. The game’s plot also sounds a bit reminiscent of the Metal Gear series, described as a “massive power gap between man and machine in pulse-pounding encounters: face off against powerfully armed troops, armored vehicles and towering mechs.”

While there is certainly an immediate “mech-minded” audience that Left Alive will appeal too, the powerhouse creative team should be able to bring in other players that may not otherwise gravitate towards that type of game. Hopefully, we will see more gameplay footage as the release date approaches.
