It seems that Square Enix's E3 2019 press conference won't be dominated by Cloud Strife and his friends after all, as the company has revealed that their Avengers video game will make an appearance at the event.

Square Enix's Marvel video game was originally known as The Avengers Project and was announced as being developed by both Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. The original trailer showed the discarded weapons of the Avengers (such as Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer), while the sound of a monster roaring (possibly the Hulk) could be heard in the background. There has been almost no new information revealed about the game since 2017, outside of rumors.

It seems that the wait for more information about Square Enix's take on the Marvel universe is almost over. The official Avengers Twitter account has uploaded a post promoting the worldwide reveal of the game now known as Marvel's Avengers at Square Enix's press conference at E3 2019.

It seems that Marvel & Disney are stepping up their game in regards to video games based on their comic book properties. The past few years have seen the release of games like Marvel's Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, while Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is due to be released for the Nintendo Switch later this year.

There has been almost no information released about the kind of game that Marvel's Avengers will be, even in regards to its genre. The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, which is the studio responsible for the Tomb Raider series, as well as the Legacy of Kain series. The game is also being developed by Eidos Montreal, which has developed the modern Deus Ex and Tomb Raider titles.

The classic team of Avengers that the fans know and love from the MCU may have disbanded, but they will still live on in video games for years to come. Marvel's Avengers has an amazing pedigree in regards to its developers, which means that this game that is definitely worth looking out for.

Marvel's Avengers will be shown in greater detail at Square Enix's E3 conference on June 10, 2019.
